Registration is open and hockey season is quickly approaching! YGMH would like to give our Wheaties a brief update regarding the 20/21 season with this time of uncertainty in mind. The Saskatchewan Hockey Association has recommended that we plan for a regular season and adjust as needed depending on the current situation. Hockey Canada has released return to play guidelines which can be found at https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca The guidelines have outlined 4 levels of p...lay from training to regular play. It is expected that we will move between these levels based on local covid activity and current Sask Health protocols. We will be following these guidelines and Sask Health directives to determine YGMH activity. What we DO know is that we will not be allowed tournaments or travel out of province at all this season. At this moment, no games are allowed although this may change before the season begins. Facility restrictions such as dressing room availability and rink capacity will be assessed in conjunction with the rink board in mid-October. We have booked PEP camps throughout the season and our board has made it a priority to bring player development programs to our teams this season. We see this as especially important if the number of games is limited or if games do not happen at all. In the event of an abbreviated season, refunds will be assessed at season’s end. We will meet with each team before the rink opens to review the current protocols in place at that time. Reminder that registration is due September 1. If you need a form, let us know! Although there is much unknown, we are hoping for the best, but planning for the best and the worst.
