It’s okay to be in pain. Pain is a part of life. Life is pain. Life is joy.... Life is crushing heartbreak - And then crisp clean sheets on Sunday morning. If our ability to feel joy is conditional on our ability to feel pain, we must learn to welcome it as part of the human experience. But - we can learn to transition quickly. From pain to ease From suffering to joy We can float back and forth. Here-there High-low Love-anger And welcome them all. Suffering, the long term kind, lies in the attachment. To think you’re stuck. But you’re not stuck, any more than you’re guaranteed smooth sailing and easy nights. So go in - feel it. Swim in the depths of sadness, loneliness, sorrow. And leap through fields of joy, love, excitement. Release resistance - compassion all the while for this human life you’re living. There’s love in all of it. . Wow I took time at the end of this year, instead of rushing around for the holidays like I normally do, to go into deep reflection. Looking back on this year, and this decade, has given me so much closure and so much healing. 10 years ago, when I was 12 years old (yes 12) I was drinking, doing drugs, smoking cigarettes and overall being really destructive. I was so deeply unhappy and careless in the worst way. I’ve evolved again and again since then. I’m 22 now and ...I can honestly say I feel deeply happy and fulfilled. I have an amazing job, my life is cram packed full of love and happiness. I am healthy, safe, free. I finally feel like I can free myself from all that suffering years ago. Looking back at this year has also been a trip. Can you believe that this time last year Warrior Yoga didn’t even have a bank account yet? I mean we have literally built an international nonprofit with a team and a board of directors and a budget and a business plan. What the heck. All the people we’ve met, all the things we’ve done, places we’ve been, wow. It’s hard to understand. I feel like I’ve also grown into my role as teacher, I found my voice and my people and my places. That was cool too. I still had a burn out this spring. We emptied our bank accounts (and then some). There was that time @idafarneman and I lived in a crapy airbnb with a screamo rock band living our basement (they practiced every single day). It hasn’t been easy. It was so loud (literally) and so full and so hard and so amazing all at the same time. But amidst all the challenge has been so much transformation - it’s always that way isn’t it? I can really sense that this year, this decade will be so powerful. New boundaries and new spaces and supports. Dreams are coming true. I’m so so so excited to paint all over this new blank slate. Wishing you peace love and transformation in 2020 #selfstudy #thesweatlife #yoga #thisisyoga #lululemonambassador #2019reflections #warrioryoganetwork See more

It’s only when you go further than you’ve ever gone before, when you reach heights you previously believed to be impossible, that you really glimpse your true potential. When you go beyond the impossible you realize your infinite potential. How limitless you really are. You notice how, with dedication and persistence, you can live a life beyond your wildest dreams. ... It will be messy, and hard, and there will be stumblings along the way. But you’ll arrive to places previously thought unreachable - sweating, crying, laughing and allowing yourself to wonder what else is possible in this wild and unpredictable universe. That’s what most of us want our students to feel and notice. Thank you @put eyogiamber for this reminder at the Movement Ritual on Friday, I needed the boost. My students from this morning got some yoga homework for today. Do something for yourself, something to nourish and love on yourself, that has nothing to do with accomplishing and nothing to do with anyone else. Go for a coffee or take a nap or read your favourite book or whatever it is you’re into, and whatever it is you need. Love and care for yourself like you would for your very best friend. Do yourself a favour. Love is always inside you and you can feel it whene...ver you wish regardless of what’s happening externally. Comment below something you’re doing to love on yourself today Also, huge thank you to the incredible @jay. So excited to release all the photos from this shoot! When we feel better, when we’re at ease, we communicate better. We interact more kindly, we connect better. We’re more considerate. Because you set yourself at ease you make the world around you better, even a tiny bit better. When hundred of millions of people across the globe are doing this, the effects are massive. Overall the world becomes more at ease and more peaceful. One thing I’ve seen and experienced and noticed over and over as a yoga teacher is that yoga mak...es us feel better. People look, feel and communicate more calmly when they walk out of a class. And yoga meaning whatever that is to you - whether it’s singing at a kirtan or it’s meditating for 5 minutes in your bedroom before school or sweating everything out at a drake class on a Sunday night or volunteering in your community. There’s so many options and it’s not all about the shapes (although I really like the shapes). If it makes you happier, kinder, more considerate, more loving, do it. Come back to it again and again. And then do what you can to help others find that place too #heretobe #warrioryoganetwork #yogaforeverybody #lululemonambassador #ottawayoga #lululemonott See more
