Yoga and Meditation with George 23.11.2020

Just a reminder that Monday, Feb 16, 2020 is Louis Riel Day, and the CMHA building is closed. So there is no Monday yoga & meditation. The Thursday class will be on as usual.

I liked this article it was fun to read and contains many truths! The excuses to not practice yoga that particularly caught my attention are: 1. I’m not flexible. Ok, I was 57 when I started to practice yoga so I definitely was not flexible. The author’s response to this excuse is: If you’re not flexible now, that is not a reason to bypass yoga altogether. Yoga helps you cultivate flexibility - both in your body and in your brain. I certainly found that to be true,... and continue to cultivate my flexibility. 5. It’s way too hard. The author handled this one well: Did you walk and talk your way out of the womb? No wait, could you just make yourself a sandwich, count to ten AND peer-mediate from the get-go? HELL NO. You had to practice, learn, try, fall over and get into some conundrums before you were able to do any of this life-skills stuff. Yoga is the exact same. It’s hard and it’s weird and it’s challenging. It’s a whole new language for your body and brain. Give it time. With practice, patience and perseverance, it too will unfold. 6. I’m not a 20 year old skinny white chick with a feather in her ear. See my answer to #1 above! The author also said: I know. I know. And yes, I know. Remember, iconography and marketing does not represent all the real life experiences out there. If you don’t fit into the popular yoga imagery, who gives a shit. Practice yoga. Be yoga. The world needs more you, not more marketing poo. Truth is! YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE. One hundred and ten percent TRUTH. Hope to see you in class. https://www.doyou.com/the-most-popular-excuses-to-not-do-y/

The Tuesday evening classes at CMHA have now come to an end, with January 28, 2020 being the final class. We thank Cian for the volunteering he has provided to teach these classes. There will still continue to be free yoga and meditation classes each week on Mondays (2-3) and Thursdays (3-4). I will continue to be teaching the Monday classes and Ian will continue to be teaching the Thursday classes.

We’re going to have a small break in the free yoga and meditation classes (Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays) at CHMA. Starting and including Monday, December 23, 2019 the classes are all cancelled; but will start again the week of January 20, 2020. Hope you have an enjoyable holiday season.
