Hi friends, I’m hoping you have time during the Christmas season to relax and restore and I am sending my best and well wishes your way. Yoga Classes will resume at Captain Tilley Community Centre in January, and I can take 7 participants per night to allow for proper distancing. Please let me know if you’d like to reserve a spot for Tuesday nights at 7:15 pm. I’ll continue to offer Yoga by registration in advance, month by month, January, February, April and May. In June a...nd September, we’ll move Tuesday night Yoga to Harmony Beach weather/biting insects permitting. I may also continue with a handful of dates in July and August. Park at boat launch on north side of the beach. With our snowfall this morning, it looks like I can start planning for Snowga! I’ll keep you posted as these plans develop... for now, I’m thinking of Snowga Thursday nights in Goulais at a place to be determined, and once a month, either a Saturday or Sunday, on the weekend. Please message me if you are interested, so I can plan activities that you are interested in.

Friends, Can you believe we are almost ready to say goodbye to October? It feels like only a couple of weeks ago we were immersed in hues of red and orange, followed by a golden glow last week and until this morning, when we woke up to our world in white. We are heading into our last week of October Yoga classes and I’m starting to plan for November. For the month of November, Yoga classes will be held at Captain Tilley at our usual time on Tuesday nights from 7:15-8:45 pm ...for $9. To join in, please pre-register with me in advance in person or by PM. I can take 7 participants in total to ensure we can distance appropriately in our yoga space. Some nights, we have room for an extra person if someone can’t make it, so if you’d like to be on my last minute call out list, please PM me. I will plan a couple of outdoor Yoga sessions this month towards the end of the month, weather permitting, and I’ll post updates here. For December, I’m planning to offer a couple more outdoor Yoga sessions, weather permitting, and as long as there has been sufficient interest in the November outdoor Yoga sessions. Indoor Yoga classes will be on hold for the month of December and resume in January. I hope to see you soon! Ivy

Hello friends! I hope you are well in all areas of your health (physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual)! I’ve had a challenging summer in a number of areas, and I’m mindful that I need to ease into Yoga classes this fall. I wanted to give you an update on what I have planned. I typically start Yoga classes at Captain Tilley in Goulais River in October every year, and I am gearing up for Tuesday night all levels classes starting on Tuesday, October 6 and contin...uing Tuesday nights only for the months of October and November, and then continuing again in the winter and spring on Tuesday nights. Our typical time has been 7:15-8:30 pm and I think this has worked well, but I am open to your feedback about a time that’s best for you. If there is sufficient interest, I will add an additional class in November on another night or weekend and possibly another location, possibly outdoors. To be fair to the fitness classes held at Captain Tilley, I have given up our usual Thursday night class time and would have to find another day for Yoga if there is interest in more than one class a week. In summary, at this point, I am only planning classes 1 day a week at Captain Tilley - Tuesday nights, but I’m open to other possibilities based on your feedback. Your feedback is key in offering Yoga classes you’d like to attend. Please drop me a line and say hello and to pre-register, which is new this year. More on this below... I will host a beginner’s night at the end of October, and I can add a beginner’s class in November if there’s sufficient interest. I will find out more information about the use of the space at Captain Tilley next week. I am thinking pre-registering for classes should be the protocol this year as I will have restrictions on numbers to ensure distancing, and I’m not even sure if you feel comfort participating in Yoga classes this fall. My current understanding is that unless practiced outdoors, we would need to use masks. I am also open to hosting outdoor yoga in sweaters and outdoor gear as another option. Please send me a text (705-260-0004) or a personal message on Messenger/Facebook to let me know if you’d like to participate in Yoga indoors at Captain Tilley on Tuesday nights in October and November, and if you are interested in another time, or another day in addition to Tuesday’s, or if you are interested in Outdoor yoga and if there’s a day/night that may work for you. Registration priority for Tuesday nights will be given to those who have been practicing Yoga with me regularly in the past. I hope to hear from you and see you soon! Ivy

I just wanted to reach out to you in these unprecedented times and let you know that as I’m sure you are aware, Yoga classes are not on the horizon anytime in the near future. For some stress relief, going for a walk in nature and shifting our focus from our thoughts and worries to the trees, running water as the snow melts, animal tracks and feeling the sun or rain on our face and body can clear our minds and be grounding. Practicing mindfulness where we engage our senses a...nd deep, purposeful breathing are important parts of any Yoga practice whether you are practicing traditional Yoga poses or just going for a walk. Continue to breath deeply and get outside! If you’d like to practice Yoga poses, there are many apps and videos online to try. Maybe try a few poses on your deck or on your walk to stretch and/or build strength. I hope you are keeping well both physically, but also mentally. Curiosity and learning something new can be a positive mental health strategy. If you are struggling, please, please reach out to someone.
