Finishing off our practice with Brahmari Breath (humming bee breath) . My teaching focus has shifted slowly over the last 20+ years from power flow to a mor...e intuitive, subtle energy focus. I have dropped the "shoulds' (like big toes together...should you? Not necessarily) We discover so much more via exploration of the ancient teachings. As a result, the practice is that much more fulfilling and adds a deeper dimension to the practice and our lives. We have shifted from getting a 'work out" to learning to "work in'. YOGA NIDRA - Tuesdays September 8 - 29 @ Yoga Glow Studio - $60 +hst 9-10 am or 7 -8 pm (Full) Therapeutic Reclined Guided Meditation ... Do you find meditation a challenge or daunting? Maybe it's time to try Yoga Nidra. I will be offering this 4 week session to a small group of 9 individuals in September 45 -60 min sessions. It will be available as a 4 WEEK session only, not available with the class pass. (Please note, there are no refunds or substitution for missed classes.) If you are interested message me and I will hold a spot for 24 hours pending receipt of payment. It is anticipated this will sell out within a few days. With over 5000 hours guiding thousands of students, over 20 years, I am honoured to bring this offering back. As I look around and listen to the concerns of others, it seems we NEED this practice more than ever. Our systems are on OVER DRIVE. We may be in this together yet it feels we are becoming more veiled by the illusion of our separation. This simple guided meditation practice, done laying down is deeply therapeutic on all layers of our being. It reunites us with a deep sense of re-connection. Yoga Nidra is offered in a systematic and relaxing way to enter deeper and deeper levels of consciousness. "Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique, and one of the easiest yoga practices to develop and maintain. ...(as you rest comfortably in savasana) , this systematic meditation takes you through the 5 kosha or five layers of self...you leave with a sense of wholeness. ". Who is it for? 1. ANYONE CAN DO YOGA NIDRA Its a guided practice that everyone, from children to seniors, can do. It's easy to follow at any age. All that your body needs to do is lie down on the floor. And even if you can't lie down on the floor, you can still do this practice seated. 2. YOU CANNOT PRACTICE YOGA NIDRA INCORRECTLY As you lie down, supported in savasana, all you have to do is follow the voice that is guiding you. It's likely that you will remember certain parts of the meditation and not others. Every time you come to the practice you encounter a new experiencenone of which is wrong. Falling asleep is okay too, as you will still receive benefits while the unconscious mind is absorbing the practice. 3. YOGA NIDRA IS EASY TO INCORPORATE INTO YOUR DAILY LIFE Seated meditation can be frustratingtrying to clear the mind, bring awareness back to the breath, or find inspiration for focusing. Yoga nidra is always guided, so there is no intense thinking or wondering why you are staring at a blank wall. 4. IT'S A SIMPLE WAY TO REDUCE STRESS It promotes deep rest and relaxation that isn’t found in your average meditation practice. The stages of body scan and breath awareness alone can be practiced to calm the nervous system, leading to less stress and better health. 5. YOGA NIDRA OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF INTIMATELY Yoga nidra can serve as a pathway to freedom without creating bodily stress. A samskara (mental groove) is formed by a repetitive thought or habit that is deepened in the mind and body, creating a mental impression (groove) over time. These impressions can cause negative reactions and emotions which prevent a unification of the five layers (koshas) of one's self. If these negative emotions continue to plague you, the mental/emotional layer of the self is unable to integrate with the other layers: physical, energetic, higher wisdom, and bliss body. This is where yoga nidra can be especially helpful. Yoga nidra is an accessible meditation practice that focuses on cultivating multiple levels of well-being.
