Open your hips and enjoy a moment of peace with this lovely yin pose. Calming and deep Deer Pose is fabulous as it works both internal and external rotation at the same time. Feel free to adapt this pose to suit your body using blankets/props under the hips/knees. Stay for 3-5 minutes on each side. Enjoy.... Let me know how it felt.

Have fun with Santa Breath. Embrace all that you are as you Ho, Ho, Ho your way to relaxation. With each exhale release stress, enjoy the moment, and send compassion to yourself or someone else who comes to mind. #mindfuladvent #santabreath

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine. Today we get to enjoy Candle Pose/aka Legs up the Wall. This pose is a favorite and ideal to restore and renew the mind and body. Feel free to linger longer and give yourself the gift of relaxation. You deserve it! Five to 15 minutes of self care daily helps connect with self and take care of your mental and physical health. #mindfuladvent #legsupthewall

Hooray for Chocolate Meditation! Today we get to experience mindful eating as we thoughtfully experience a small piece of chocolate. I encourage you to go find a piece of chocolate to practice this meditation with me. Whenever I shared this meditation in teacher training, professional development workshops or schools I would offer a chocolate chip. This time I'll be indulging in single source chocolate. Fine single source chocolate is a sensory driven experience. Made with c...ocoa beans sourced from a specific country, plantation, or small family-owned farm, single-origin bars are full of distinctive flavors. Due to factors such as soil, climate, rainfall, altitude, and manufacturing methods, the differences between these bars can vary greatly. Whatever chocolate you choose, take your time, be mindful of the full experience. Allow the flavours to develop gradually. Savour the moment. #chocolatetasting #mindfuleating

Camel pose is a wonderful heart opener. In this time of challenge it is essential to remain open to love, opportunity, and staying your course. Camels as a symbol invite us to focus on our desired outcomes with gratitude and thankfulness. Associated with a long journey, recouping your own energy, and the ability to survive, even thrive, against the tough conditions in life, camels are an ideal symbol for us to embrace to finish off 2020. #mindfuladvent

Love when Jack Frost visits and turns the world sparkling white. It was so beautiful this morning driving to the office. The sun had just come up, the sky was rich blue, and the hoar frost had made all the trees and grasses into amazing ice sculptures. Find beauty ... While shepherd watched their flocks by night... Today we enjoy Shepherd's crook pose (aka Candy Cane pose) The shepherd's crook is a tool to aid in rescuing animals in need and in defending against predators. Symbolically it is seen as caring for others and of authority. In my life the shepherd's crook reminds me of Christ as the good shepherd and brings to mind Psalms 23... The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. #mindfulness #mindfuladvent

Hot Beverage Meditation invites you to recall all the senses and experiences of enjoying your favorite hot beverage (you can choose a cold one if you'd rather). I love this meditation because it brings to mind frothy cups of hot chocolate or the warmth and calm of a favorite cup of tea. When we use our imagination we fire up a lot of brain power. Recalling positive experiences from the past increases positive emotion and reward-related brain circuitry.... So mentally enjoy your fave beverage, let go of tension, and invite more positivity into your life. #mindfuladvent #meditation #mindfulness #yogainmyschool #findingpeace

Christmas Trees have been used to celebrate the festive season for over 1000 years. The evergreen symbolizes ever lasting life with God. Today for mindful advent we celebrate finding balance, focus, and strength with tree pose. May you pause for a moment - explore balance physically - then take those skills off your mat and apply them to your life. Happy practicing.
