Yoga with Shelagh

Thank you to the yogis at last night's class ... we practiced the Lakshmi Namaskar, dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi energy that we have within us. The aspect of the mother that is auspiciousness and abundance, for ALL. May all be blessed with an abundance of beauty, overflowing health, vitality, clean water, full rivers, peace, love, compassion, wisdom, true knowledge, wealth and radiance. The energy of abundance is regenerative.... "Lakshmi is an ancient goddess. The Vedic singers praised her and sang the ‘Hymn of Shri’ (Shri Sukta) to bring forth whatever is glorious and beautiful in the natural world. Besides being a name of Lakshmi, shri is an abstract noun that signifies all the qualities associated with auspiciousness: good fortune, lovingkindness, material prosperity, physical health, beauty, purity of motive, well-being, authority, energy, vitality, and every kind of radiance. Hello Lovely Yogis For those of you who come to my classes, you may have heard me mention the Goddess Durga, riding her tiger with her weapons of consciousness. Using our swords to cut through, sharpen our focus or perhaps release our fear. I found this great explanation of the 10 weapons and their meaning and want to share them with you.... Every day we are different. Every day we come to our practice to listen Let's practice to create space to listen. Let's celebrate these energies that we have within us. We are currently in a transformative time, nine days and nine nights in the Indian calendar, dedicated to the nature of three Goddesses - Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati. Dedicated to raising our vibrations for the greater good for all. Today is day 3 of Navratri, celebrating the fierce love, protective, courageous, empowered, ego-free, truth aspect of the Mother.

Special times ... . . . Practicing on our deck, with the lilac (wisteria!) in full bloom... . . . The joy, freedom, peace that comes when in Headstand . . . So happy for perseverance and patience and love that was needed along the way, to now be able to love being present and easeful in this pose. It was all worth it.
