Lucy’s Place Supportive Housing Program All residents of Lucy’s Place are supported to recover from their experience of chronic/long term homelessness and empowered to live independently with the onsite support from staff and peer-to peer relationships alike. Individual support is encouraged on a mutually agreed upon basis, and determined by the residents' homelessness recovery goals. Program candidate criteria:... Supportive housing for individuals who are experiencing chronic/long term homelessness. Adults individuals (limited co-occupant opportunities) Have a chronic/long term history of homelessness Be a high service user of ER departments, hospitals, withdrawal management and/or the justice system Must be willing to accept some level of support from housing provider How to Apply Applications for supportive housing at Lucy’s Place, is managed through The David Busby Centre. These units are prioritized to individuals who have been experiencing chronic/long term homelessness and who have been assigned to the Regional Housing First Program (Barrie) or those who have met the Housing First criteria and have been submitted to the assignment list to the Regional Housing First Program (Barrie). Two of the eighteen units will be assigned to a street to homes ultra low barrier program and will be assigned through street outreach services. Interested candidates must apply and meet the criteria of the Regional Housing First Program. The access points for completing a Housing First Program application to the Regional Housing First Program is to call Simcoe Community Services Barrie Housing at 705 739 0485 or toll free at 1-833-726-9082 or by attending your local shelter, drop in centre, or community social service agency. The staff within these organizations will complete your application, or connect you to a service that can complete your application, and then forward your application to the Regional Housing First Team Central Intake for possible assignment. This does not guarantee assignment to the program nor does it guarantee placement at Lucy’s Place. Lucy’s Place is a specialized supportive housing program for those recovering from chronic/long term homelessness in the city of Barrie. Once we have received the completed referral from The Regional Housing First Team, our Intake Coordinator will arrange an interview to further determine eligibility. In the case of shared housing, there is a secondary interview which we require to establish compatibility with participants already living in the home.
