There’s nothing better than that feeling of being loved and having unconditional acceptance. Regardless of our mood and regardless of our struggles. One mindful practice you can treat yourself with is this simple loving kindness meditation: 1) Close your eyes and take a breath... 2) Repeat to yourself: I am capable It’s ok to feel... I am one of a kind I deserve to feel loved I accept and love myself. This meditation is a type of loving kindness exercise that helps us stay still for a moment and be kind to ourselves. Research shows that this loving kindness meditation can be quite powerful in reducing anxiety, improving our mood, and in strengthening our self confidence. May we all gain this sense of acceptance and confidence during these pressing times. Love this image! We all need to take a pause rather than fall into the judgemental place. Mothers (and fathers!) do a lot, there is definitely more than meets the eye! Let us show gentle kindness and compassion for all busy parents out there. Thanks @common_wild for this simple yet powerful image! #parenting #compassion #parents #parenthood #parentinglife #parentingmemes #parentingishard #mindfulness #mindfulliving #mindfulparenting

During these unprecedented times, the lines between work and home can easily get blurred, particularly for those of us working from home. While there are many wonderful benefits of working from home, such as seeing our families more and no commute (!), there are also challenges. It is essential for our mental well being to develop some distinctions between work and home life, here are some helpful tips: 1) Make a specific part of your home the work space and try to stick to... that. By making a physical work space, it helps create that break in our mind set that when we’re out of that work space, we’re on break. This also helps us be more mindful in confining work to the workspace rather than taking our work along everywhere we go. This way you’ll also reduce the amount of snacking you may be doing (given that your work space is hopefully not in the kitchen). Think out of sight, out of mind. 2) Routine and hours are crucial! It is helpful to have the same hours of work each day so that expectations are set. This also helps regulate our sleep and wake times, which also contributes to our mood! 3) While the weather may be getting cooler, it is important to get outside and avoid being indoors all of the time. A short brisk walk is beneficial not just to give ourselves a physical break and exercise, but to also support our mental well being and a mental break in routine. Research consistently shows that spending time outdoors in nature contributes to better mood and reduces stress. 4) Lastly, it is important to be mindful of how much time we spend on our electronic devices. While our world has become quite dependent on virtual communication, it is beneficial to have some device free family time at home and disconnect from the busy world we’re living in. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalwellness #mentalwellbeing #workfromhome #worklifebalance #mindfulness #mindfulliving #selfcare #selfawareness #worklifeintegration #nature #outdoors #balancedlife #balance

Unplugging from our devices may also mean finding a sense of quiet. Our smart phones and other electronic devices may be great for keeping us updated and in the know, but they may also create a sense of anxiety and distract us from being present in our lives and with each other. How often have you seen couples or families being together yet apart on their phones? Research suggests that social media can actually make us anxious. Many of us may not always be mindful of scroll...ing through social media while simultaneously walking or eating or even playing with children. It’s important to be mindful of how we use technology and allow ourselves to unplug once in a while and enjoy other things life has to offer, offline. How do you plan to unplug this weekend and bring mindful space into the present moment? #mindful #mindfulness #mindfulliving #mindfulparenting #parenting #unplugged #unplugging #mentalhealth

Our parenting reflects much of what we grew up knowing and how we see the world. It is important to pause and reflect when we respond to our child, and ask ourselves whether our response is mindful to our child’s needs or based on our own needs and concerns. When we do this, we approach our child with newfound empathy and awareness of what is truly helpful for them in that moment. #mindfulparenting #mindfulness #empathy #parenting #mindfulliving #mindset #mindshift
