It is key to establish a positive relationship between the community and the Police board to maintain a safe and healthy community. There has been a lack of police presence and prioritization when it comes to maintaining a safe community within the Eglinton West Community. Small businesses owners along Eglinton West community have been dealing with the LRT construction and its dysfunctions since 2011. Our community has been ignored and forgotten about for over a decade. Despite being a cultural hub within our city, there has still yet to be a solution to our communities' growing issues. We have also seen the issues of homelessness, and social disorder becoming a growing concern to our community. The BIA has increasingly been asked by our small ...business members and community stakeholders to find solutions and take action. We believe in prioritizing the health, safety and inclusiveness for all as pivotal to economic development. We believe that by taking the initiative to facilitate, collaborate and build partnerships to tackle visible, street-based concerns, we are investing in the economic competitiveness of our neighborhood and commercial district.
