A thought on Sunday Gospel...
Today is the Feast of the Encounter of Our Lord in the Temple. The tropar for today mentions that Jesus is a shining light for those in darkness. Many of us ha...ve struggled with darkness and continue to struggle with darkness, but we have hope! This feast reminds us that Jesus is here, we can encounter him and know that he is waiting to light our home and hearts. See more
"There are so many people to thank, especially during this time of the pandemic. I would like to thank the ‘COVID Crew’ those parishioners who week after wee...k have taken on the task of sanitizing the church after each liturgy. I also thank all the ushers who have made sure the office has the information necessary for any contact tracing, our parish staff who have been exemplary in managing the parish during this difficult time, our cantors who have stepped up during this time to be solo leaders of the liturgy even though they would much rather have the support of a choir with them. And finally, a big thank you to all our parishioners those who attend liturgies and those unable to. Thank you for participating in the YouTube liturgies and thank you for your continued financial support as well. The expenses of the parish have not decreased all that much and there was a big concern that the longer the restrictions were on that this would place the parish into financial concerns. We are managing, thanks to the ongoing support of our parishioners, but we still have a way to go. Thank you for your continued support of our parish during these unusual and difficult times."--Fr. January 14 - Commemoration of Bl. Peter Donders, C.Ss.R. - Apostle of Lepers in Surinam If only, by sacrificing my own life, I could bring all people to know and love God as He deserves. But let God’s holy will be done in all things.
"No matter what has happened in the past year, Christmas has a way of always giving us a meaningful message, even during a pandemic. That is because the birth ...of Jesus, the Son of God, as a human being brings all of us into a new reality, a reality that changes who we are as we live on this Earth and who we are in the eternal Kingdom of God. No matter what our circumstances are as we live our lives year by year on this Earth, the birth of Christ means celebrating the new life that we have in Christ. Therefore, we can have courage, faith and hope that no matter what happens year to year on this Earth, we are part of a much greater reality that transcends our Earthly lives. So, whether we are alone this Christmas or with family, whether we have had a good year or a challenging year, Christmas offers everyone a message of victory, because God Himself has become one of us in order to raise us up to a life of oneness with God and nothing can stand in the way of that reality in our lives." - Father Ray See more

January 6 - Solemnity of the Theophany or the Baptism of Our Lord in the Jordan You have revealed Yourself to the world today, and Your light, O Lord, has shined upon us. We recognize You and exclaim to You: You have come and revealed Yourself, O inaccessible Light!
For 288 years the Redemptorist Missionaries continue the charism of Alphonsus in the Church and society. Strong in faith, rejoicing in hope, burning with charity, on fire with zeal, in the humility of heart and persevering in prayer, Redemptorists as apostolic men and genuine disciples of Saint Alphonsus follow Christ the Redeemer with hearts full of joy; denying themselves and always ready to undertake what is demanding and challenging, they share in the mystery of Christ and proclaim it in Gospel simplicity of life and language, that they may bring to people Plentiful Redemption (Redemptorist Constitutions, No. 20). Truly, the current pandemic has impacted our way of life in so many ways. It has also impacted our ways of celebrating and expressing our faith. But these creat...ive youth did not let this hamper their desire to serve and to help others, in new and creative ways! Youth from Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens, Saint Boniface Cathedral, Saint-Eugène and Précieux-Sang parishes, led by Amber Wsiaki and accompanied by Seminarian Serge Buissé, are volunteering where they can. Due to COVID-19, this group isn't able to volunteer as they have in the past at Siloam Mission and Actionmarguerite Saint-Vital. Here are photos of them raking leaves for seniors in the neighborhood, and preparing & delivering sandwiches with "ACE - Abandoned City Encounter". All French-speaking youth 11 years and older are welcome to join. Contact Amber for more information on these safe and responsible initiatives: [email protected]
