STONG COLLEGE AWARD & BURSARY 2020/2021 Deadline Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 11:59pm Olga Cirak Alumni Bursary The award will be given annually to any full-time Stong student currently enrolled in the University. The recipient must have demonstrated a high level of commitment and involvement in the college, financial need and have an overall average of 7.00(B+) or better. Award Value: up to $1,500... Virginia Rock Award The Virginia Rock Award, named in honour of the first Master of Stong College, is funded by the entire college community. This award recognizes a distinctive combination of academic achievement and devotion to Stong College and its ideals. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 8.0, be an active contributor to Stong College and demonstrate financial need. Award Value: up to $1,000 Stong College Student Life Award Awarded to three undergraduate continuing students who exhibit leadership qualities, have contributed significantly to student life at Stong College and have achieved a minimum grade point average of 8.0(A). Recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent resident or protected persons, residents of Ontario and demonstrate financial need. Award Value: up to $2,000 The Stong College Council 50th Anniversary Award The Stong College Council 50th Anniversary Award will be awarded to students affiliated with Stong College, as it currently exists, who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, and residents of Ontario, who demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a continuing student with a minimum B (6.0) grade point average, who has demonstrated commitment to the Stong College student body and/or the community. All robes, hoods and props will be steam cleaned after each use. CALL FOR SPEAKERS: CAREER SPOTLIGHT, BOLD IDEAS, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & WELLBEING Calumet & Stong Colleges are seeking guest speakers/presenters for our Career Spotlight and Bold Ideas sessions, and seeking facilitators for the Community Engagement and Wellbeing (CEW) workshops. Career Spotlight: An opportunity for all professionals, regardless of institutional affiliation, to share their experiences of how they navigated their career journey. This moderated, one-on-one ...discussion guides undergraduate students through the complexities of the endless career pathways that are open for exploration. Bold Ideas: Serves as a platform for citizens, activists and leaders to share their personal, career and life experiences and challenges with the community, and how they negotiated their life paths around these challenges. Non-conformists are welcome. CEW Workshops: A variety of workshops designed to help students take their minds off the pressures of daily life to learn a new skill and connect with their community. All ideas are welcome and past workshops developed skills such as: painting, drawing, meditation & light movement, clay making, etc. We also welcome professional development skills such as networking.
