Further proof that technology made to decrease distraction while driving actually creates just as much of a distraction. Not to mention that distracted driving can be just as severe as impaired driving. https://www.cnet.com//apple-carplay-android-auto-distract/ #YoungDriversofCanada #DistractedDriving #RoadSafety

To the YD Community: As our company responds to COVID-19, the health and safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority. In keeping with community-based social distancing measures to mitigate the spread of disease, Young Drivers of Canada has made the decision to postpone all in-class and in-car training effective immediately across all locations. ... As previously announced, an online option is available for students who are interested in continuing their training during this time, as well as those who are interested in enrolling in the near future. Students who choose not to participate in online learning will be able to reschedule their course to a later date, when it is appropriate to do so. This also applies to students who are in the process of completing in-car lessons. Please contact your local Young Drivers centre for more information on our online course as well as any other questions you may have about our courses at this time. Updates will be posted to our social channels as new developments come to light. Take this time to reconnect with your loved ones at home, support each other and prepare to move forward from this with motivation and optimism. We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to ensure everyone’s safety. Sincerely, Young Drivers of Canada

Each year, on this day, we celebrate the International Day of Happiness. With social distancing making many feel a bit lonely, it is the perfect time to reflect on the things that make you feel good and reconnect with family and loved ones who may need support right now. If you are a current student or parent who is worried about falling behind due to postponed in-car training, please consider taking advantage of our Co-Driver program, included in your course. The Co-Driver program helps parents and guardians support driver training by giving them the tools and guidance needed to practice with the student. Please refer to the e-mail received up on registration for information on how to login. https://www.yd.com/CoDriver/login/

With all of the news surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic casting a shadow over St.Paddy’s Day and other major events, we feel it is important to remind everyone that it is also National Impaired Driving Prevention Week. During this time of uncertainty we must be even more proactive than ever when it comes to creating safer roads for everyone. Remember impaired is impaired. Stay safe and know that as Canadians we will get through this together. #dontdrivehigh #Idrivealert #publicsafetycanada #weareyd #yd50 #impairedisimpaired #dontdrinkanddrive

*UPDATE* We are continuing to monitor COVID-19 updates very closely as changes are occurring at a rapid pace. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we will do everything possible to make sure we are following all necessary protocol. If you are a student currently enrolled in a March break course and choose not to attend at this time, you will be able to reschedule your course to a later date. We are currently communicating with the Ministry of Transportation in regards to conducting an online course and will inform students when we have confirmation if this is possible. Please monitor our social channels as we will post any updates we receive on the status of our classes.
