LAKE SUPERIOR CIRCLE TOUR Documentary Video Series Episode 3 ... Theme: THE MAJESTY AND LURE Produced by, Andy Kaknevicius 4-FUN Video Productions Toronto, Ontario Canada https://youtu.be/zXRZv4behk8 The third of several episodes travelling around Lake Superior in Canada and the United States of America. The Trans Canada Highway, (Hwy 17) cuts through the Wawa and Michipicoten region, actually bypassing the Municipality of Wawa business section. Just a few hundred metres off Hwy 17, on Hwy 101 is the famous Wawa Goose Monument, a popular landmark on the Lake Superior Circle Tour. It is well worth a stop for a photo opportunity and a visit to the Tourist Information Centre on the same property. The Information Centre opens a floodgate of history in the region and fascinating local stories through artistic "Heritage Doors", colourful paintings of key historic people from the distant and more recent past. Short creative biographies researched and written by local historian Johanna Rowe calling them "portals into our past". The Heritage Doors are located throughout the region at a variety of locations from Sandy Beach on Lake Superior to the Gold and Iron Ore Mine trails inland. It is a fun and educational orienteering course for all ages and prompts you to see, feel and understand what life was like in these historically rich locations. Further into town you have another famous landmark, Young's General Store, a fun, rustic mini museum and a great shopping experience for the entire family. The Wawa and Michipicoten region has four seasons of outdoor activities: fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, hiking, skiing and several community events throughout the year. Wawa is also the gateway to over 120,000 Lakes for fishing, hunting, and exploration. This video introduces you to Watson's Skyservice, a long time float plane and charter service in the area along with Windy Point Lodge on Lake Kabinakagami - featured in a later episode. Don't miss out on this beautiful and historic region, make that stop at the goose and information centre. The further you drive into Wawa and the Michipicoten Region, the harder it will be to leave. SAFE TRAVELS This travel series is designed to be shared with the Lake Superior Circle Tour Group, and of course anyone interested in visiting or learning about life, travel and fun around the largest freshwater lake by surface in the world. Lake Superior and the surrounding regions are beautiful beyond words. The Majesty of this Great Lake will awe inspire you at hundreds of locations, angles and views. There is a rich history from the first peoples, to the Voyageurs and through the last century that will capture the imagination of both young and old. Adding to the intrigue are many attractions, fun travel destinations and stops. We visit many small communities sprinkled all around the picturesque shores that invite you to stop in, or stay and experience life in small town Ontario and U.S.A. Whether you travel the whole 1,300 mile distance on one trip, or return year after year exploring specific points of interest, this video series is designed to offer something for everyone.
