Apparently more articles are needed about our local industries but it is all much of the same. Our direct sourcing means we pay a fair price to the farmer and you get better value for your dollar. We need our Canadian farmers. We need them to get a larger portion of the dollar.

Hey kids, Sorry if I missed you this afternoon as I seriously needed to fit in a nap. As you can imagine we really have not taken a break and much of this has been physically and mentally exhausting. Happiness is the great farmers keeping us going
Last night we had a meeting connecting a social enterprise and YFG. November is our planning month and we have a lot going on behind the scenes trying to solve the supply chain issue for local food to local producers and customers. As we add more and more to this network discussion and what we plan on doing it is incredibly important to know the role our hospitality and business sector means for our farmers, our communities and food security. During Covid there have been 30 ...year businesses closed because restaurants could not pay when last minute rules meant they couldn’t sell the product. There are companies in Niagara that service your favourite establishment and grocery stores that are also hurting. We hope common sense will prevail in the coming weeks and months as we will have one more crack at it and then we officially hit the off season (January to April) where every business really takes a hit. There are no savings left, there no guarantee businesses will be giving the chance to save themselves. Every morning, none of us know. This isn’t profits over people this is literally about people and their lives. I would assume if you follow this business you are already the companionate type. Slainte and see you at the shop. For those not comfortable with growing concerns pre-orders and free contactless delivery are still available and will be for the foreseeable future.

I don’t do this often anymore but could not turn down a surprise dinner for our customer affectionately known to me as Sir Ian. Couple funny stores with this couple including driving into the ditch in the winter and me inviting them in for tea while we waiting for the tow truck lol. Fully stocked today. We added new products and made a fresh batch or Broccoli soup from our farmer George. Lots of fresh lasagnas, stuffed peppers and more prepared foods. Don’t forget to grab your meat pies for the week.

Always trying different wood builds. Get the axe out, release some tension, sip some whiskey and cook great food. Will be a late dinner for us. The sleep and rest never seem to mater when you love what you do and put your heart into cooking for those you love. Be it our regular customers or family...we do business differently. Off and confusing at times. But this business is me and who I am. Those that don’t get it get weeded out . So thankful for @evergreen_brick_works for opening the doors to a business run by fire and good people. It is 4.5 years since the first wood fires bbq was lit in the aim of a business.
Looks like I still have some of the old skills after all. The first time we have catered turkey meals. Hopefully w ever our other ovens online and we can offer this as a regular holiday thing. Thank you to everyone that chose us and our farmers to feed their loved ones.

Love when customers share with us. This was from one of our customers who is also a chef. She shared her homemade wine and this Italian cured salami. Now I have had this before from another Italian customer which he referred it as sopressata. Similar she added a red pepper paste, pressed and then packed it with an oil. The family and I will enjoy when we finally wrap up the day. ... More to share with the Farm Gate family. Open 10-3 today. Closed as always on Monday. Now, be Thankful. I have had my ups and downs in the 3 years and 11 months of Your Farm Gate. Things never stay great and they never stay rock bottom. For all those desperately affected by Covid I strongly urge you to look at what you have and your support group. I promise that if I can get a BBQ at Evergreen Brickworks to become a butcher shop and catering business I assure you have more around you to succeed than you think. I am incredibly thankful for those all around the Golden Horseshoe that have supported myself and my family by using our services and shopping in the store.
