Haven Farms

First off I just want to say thank you to everyone who have supported us and ordered from us in the past few months. We will be continuing egg deliveries as long as the girls are laying We haven't been posting too much, it is our quiet season. For those that keep asking, here's what that looks like for us! - completing a lot of homesteading tasks we didn't have time for over the summer... -upgrading some animal living arrangements -finishing the milking stall, and doing a lot of cleaning. -making sure everything is winter ready! - re-evaluating and planning for next year! Now we're entering into our prep season. We're ordering seeds, ordering birds, making plans, doing whatever work we can finish in the amazingly mild weather we've had! We're also going to be putting our buck in with 2 of our does to breed. The animals have been loving this weather, the younger chickens have been free ranging just like in summer ( my poor garlic!). The goats and horses have been sunning themselves daily. It's impossible to keep anything clean though, including my poor grey pony. Here's some highlight pics!

Story time! This time of the year we're prepping for next year's planting season, and since I'm going to start making my own seed starter potting mix, I'm gathering all my materials. One of these is perlite. I went to the store, and when I got there I was already tired and flustered, the girl asked me what size bag I wanted, I knew they had 11L, but was hoping for something bigger. Imo the worst part about covid shopping and curbside pick up is you don't often get to see what... you buy before you get it! Soooo I said in my frazzled state, get me the biggest bag you guys have. I thought maybe they'd be like a 50 L bag or something. It was...more than twice that. When the guy came to load it he said wow, this is a big bag! And I sat there stunned thinking... wow, that's a big bag . Sooo now I'm the owner of the biggest bag of perlite that ron pauls garden centre has. We won't be running out anytime soon!

How our animals have felt!

Nothing says fall like stocking up on straw! Here's to warm bees, barns and houses!

Last build a box day tomorrow!! 5lb of your choice of produce for 10$ open 10-2! We'll have peppers, carrots, potatoes, beets, a variety of squash, tomatoes! Come visit the animals, and enjoy the beautiful weather!

The craziness of this season never ceases to amaze...and exhaust me. Every tired day I thank God for all that is around me but wow I'm tired. Today was a 5:30- 20:30 day and I feel guilty for ending so early. We are blessed with bounty, help and love and I am so thankful. Here's some pics of the recent days on the farm!
