If you have any new 2018 #Apple computer, you are now required to get any servicing done exclusively at Apple. The computers have a new T2 chip (slightly ironic) that checks the system for matching ID's and if a part was swapped or replaced the chip will lock the system making the computer inoperable, the techs have new proprietary software that is run after a repair to reset the system ID's allowing the computer to run like normal. This applies to any and all components; RAM..., monitor, SSD, keyboard, etc. For reference if you ever needed a new keyboard in your #MacBook I could replace it for $100 all in but now that you don't have a choice in repair options and you are looking at $600+ from Apple, this is why we need #RightToRepair! https://motherboard.vice.com//macbook-pro-software-locks-p
