Mennonite Country Tour about to begin https://www.airbnb.ca/experiences/282720

Got this great feedback from my Mennonite Country Experience on Airbnb:" I have been wanting to see the Mennonites for the longest time ever and I was so pleased to have Angela has a guide who made this possible. I learned more about their way of life from her than from from books. I was totally fascinated to walk into the General Store and see their wares for sale ie: their bonnets, boots and hats, etc. They are very much into community living and I like the fact that they live a simple and healthy life, we have a lot to learn from them! Thank you Angela! #tour #tourON #tourwaterlooregion #discover #yourkwhost #airbnbexperience Your KW Host Kitchen Kuttings EcoCafe Book a tour: www.yourkwhost.ca

Concordia Club In the fifth and final part of the German club series, we will be exploring the oldest and largest ethnic German club in Canada: Concordia Club. On October 7th, 1873, the First Male Choir ‘Concordia’ established their group in Berlin, Ontario (this is before it was renamed Kitchener). They moved to their current location in 1954 with funds raised by Club members. Unfortunately, in 1971 a major fire destroyed a large part of the building. However, instead of ...allowing this situation to be the downfall of the organization, they came together and worked to rebuild the club. They were able to open the club again a year later in 1972 with the help of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau cutting the ribbon at the grand re-opening. One of the most unique things about Concordia Club is the restaurant that serves authentic German cuisine 6 days a week (closed Mondays). The Schenke serves delicious meals including Bavarian meatloaf, mashed potatoes, apple strudel, and a wide variety of schnitzels. There is live entertainment on Saturdays and a dinner buffet on Wednesdays. As you are enjoying the mouth-watering foods you can look around the room and admire the hand-painted murals that depict traditional German life. You will be completely encompassed in German culture in this restaurant. We can’t talk about Concordia Club without mentioning the event they are most famous for; Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest . When we say this is the most highly anticipated event of the year, we aren’t exaggerating. Tickets go on sale at least five months in advance (May 6th this year) and will sell out in a matter of weeks. Oktoberfest at Concordia attracts over 40,000 people during the nine-day event. This festival includes beer tents, live music, dancing, and many authentic German activities that are fun for people of all ages and generations. The word Concordia in Latin means harmony, friendship, unity, and alliance, which are values that the club members have continued to instill upon many generations. Located just off Highway 8 on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener, this central location is easily accessible.
