There are so many types of insurance available. An insurance broker can help guide you through the steps to determine what you need for your family’s financial security, should something happen. The other type of insurance that is for your own health and well being is Extended Health Care. This type of insurance is either available through your group insurance if you have benefits at work, or you can purchase it to help get the extra coverage you need. This type of insurance includes hospital coverage, drugs and what is referred to as paramedicals. For more information on paramedical services, please visit our website at yourreallife.ca, or reach out to [email protected]

Attention fellow insurance agents! Getting your life insurance license does nothing to help you with getting clients, presenting, making/closing the deal, marketing yourself, or growing your business. The Resource Education After Licensing training fills the gap between acquiring your life insurance license and becoming successful. It’s also a great resource for those that have been in business for a period of time, yet have not had the success they are wanting to achieve. The vast majority of Canadians admit to being impacted by COVID-19, however only 60% are receiving treatment or social support. The mental health issues related to our lock-down and the COVID-19 virus pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. There are barriers that exist preventing people from receiving the mental health help they need. Affordability is a huge problem. Today, the stigma is still a part of the problem. We promote the need for mental health howe...ver some still don’t feel comfortable and are embarrassed talking about it. How do we, as a society, help those who need it the most? Statistics show that the proportion of the population relying solely on group insurance has continued to rise in the last few years. The concurrent rise of contract-based workers and self-employment however, means not many people can get, or are even eligible for, group life insurance from their employers. While your group coverage may seem like enough, it is best practice to regularly reevaluate your needs and coverage. Needs evolve as time goes onour net cash flow varies, we take on loans, we accumulate savings, we start investing, and our salaries change. Families may also get bigger, meaning that what was sufficient five years ago may no longer be. Our life insurance coverage, therefore, needs to be adjusted over time. As of 2018, Canadians own over $4 trillion in life insurance coverage. It is a good thing that more people are embracing life insurance. Since most Canadians are under-insured, this may seem like such a huge figure, but keep in mind that we are talking about millions of people. Therefore, looking at it collectively, this figure might not be as much as it seems. Learn more at www.yourreallife.ca

Most Canadians don’t have enough coverage. While it is commendable that many Canadians have a form of life insurance, it is worth mentioning that most of them are under-insured. They have purchased life insurance coverage that won’t be enough for their beneficiaries. It may be that they purchased it when they were younger, however their lives have changed and the amount of insurance needs to reflect that. A study, conducted in 2017 by Edward Jones, revealed that just about 16...% of the population of Canada had life insurance that could cover their remaining mortgage payments if they passed away. Many of the insured had $100,000 or less in coverage. Learn more at www.yourreallife.ca #insurance #insurancebroker #ontario #canada #insurancecanada #edwardjones #policies

Most people overestimate the cost of life insurance. Many people think that life insurance is just too expensive. The thought of paying the premiums makes them cringe. It’s one of those expenses we often question. However the public tends to exaggerate the cost of life insurancein fact, many people think life insurance is three times its actual price. As a result, some people end up not buying life insurance at all, leaving their families in a potential state of crisis.... Do you need critical illness insurance? Canadians have one of the longest life expectancy in the world. With that in mind, 1 out of 2 Canadians will experience cancer in their lifetime (Canadian Cancer Society stats). You may be optimistic that you will not get ill however the stats would suggest otherwise. The average time away from your employment, due to cancer, is 23 weeks. ... 26% of cancer patients return to work before being ready, due to financial hardship. 44% of cancer patients will need to use their savings and investments to help alleviate their financial burdens. Parents of children with cancer can't always afford to take time off to be with their children during their most vulnerable time. The solution is a Critical Illness (CI)policy that will pay a lump sum that will allow you to decide where the money needs to go and relieve you of the stress so you can concentrate on getting better. What are you doing to protect your family and yourself, in the event of an illness?

When a child is welcomed home, parents immediately think of setting up an education fund. There is so much more to think of beyond their post secondary years. I know I need insurance on myself because I’m the bread winner, but I don’t need any pay-out from my children when something happens to them is a common refrain I hear from clients when the topic of life insurance for their new-born is discussed. It's so much more than that. Having a Participating Whole Life insuran...ce policy on your child is both a way to save and an investment which will grow until your child is 100 years of age. Adding a Critical Illness policy is an added help. It's not about profiting and making money if your child is sick or worse. With critical illness, should a childhood illness or cancer happen, it will allow the parent to take the time off to be with their child at the most vulnerable time in their lives and when they need the most attention. In answer to the question, does a child really need insurance? Absolutely. Reach out for more information; always happy to answer any questions.

The very definition of insurance is to protect your family from unexpected financial loss. Based on what is going on right now, Covid has provided that unexpected event for so many. A client reached out to see if she could purchase insurance right now, to protect her family. She is 38, non smoker, no health issues, single mother of 2. Based on this information, we know she is healthy and should not have any issues getting coverage. Here is what I learned:... . Should someone test positive, the insurance companies will postpone their decision. You need to be at least 30 days symptom free. . All companies will underwrite this person, as usual with no ratings, with the exception of a positive covid test. .Currently, insurance companies do not consider anyone traveling for extended periods of time, nor traveling to any of the following: China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Italy. . Any amounts of insurance that would require blood or urine will be placed on hold for now. That being said, most of the insurance companies have raised the amounts of insurance in order to work around those tests. If you are looking to increase your insurance amounts, now would be the time. Insurance companies have not raised their premiums. The amount of insurance you may need is directly related to your financial position; mortgage, debt, higher education for your children and at least 5 times your annual income in order to let your family continue to live their lives without the consequence of financial difficulties. This is exactly what insurance was created for; the unexpected loss. We can certainly agree that a pandemic is part of the unexpected. Stay safe and reach out (with appropriate distance) if you need any help.

Insurance in the time of Covid. Here are some FAQ to help during this difficult time. Can I buy life insurance during the current COVID crisis? Absolutely yes, you can. Now is always a good time to buy life insurance to protect your family. Many of Canada’s best life insurance companies have recently increased the amount of coverage they offer without a medical test, to make it easier access to life insurance products during this current health crisis.... Can I apply for life insurance while social distancing? I work with some of the biggest life insurance companies in Canada to offer you a fully digital experience for purchasing life insurance. As well, there are several options available for purchasing life insurance, without requiring a medical exam. This is the benefit of dealing with a Broker; we can direct you to the right carrier. Are medical tests still required for purchasing life insurance? If you are in good health, most insurance companies have coverage amounts thresholds up to which you can apply, without requiring a medical test. Recently, these amounts have been increased by most insurers to meet the higher demand for digital fulfillment and non face-to-face solutions, in light of the COVID-19 concerns. Can I take the medical exam at a later date, if I want a higher coverage? If you require more coverage in the future, beyond what you receive without a medical exam, you will need to go through an in-person medical exam. Going through a medical exam can also allow you to be eligible for preferred/ better pricing than standard rates. A medical exam can be arranged for you depending on your availability and convenience and upon resolution of the current COVID situation. Can I get coverage if I traveled outside of Canada recently? Yes, you can. During the life insurance application process, you will be asked about your recent and planned international travel. If you have recently returned from a COVID-affected location, insurance underwriters may seek to postpone the decision, until a sufficient self-isolation period has been completed. Now is also a good time to complete an insurance checkup and evaluate your needs in terms of disability and critical illness insurance. Let me know if you have any questions regarding these benefits. Everything can be done digitally. There is no need to meet in person to complete an application.

Why you need to keep your life insurance policy during hard financial times. If you are like most people, then you’ve secured life insurance to protect your loved ones in the event of your unexpected death. When money gets tight, you may be tempted to simply cancel your coverage and start pocketing the extra cash. It Can Save Your Family’s Home:... If you were already struggling financially, then your death will only exacerbate the situation. The money from your life insurance can be used to meet your home mortgage payments, ensuring that your loved ones can continue to live in their home. It Will Protect Any Remaining Savings and Assets: If your family were to lose your income suddenly, then they might have to use their savings, retirement, funds, and other assets to pay for everyday costs. Instead, the money from your death benefit can be used to pay off debts, meet recurring financial obligations, and take care of day-to-day costs. It Will Prevent an Unplanned Return to Work: If your spouse is staying home to raise your children, then your income was necessary for survival. In the event of your death, the loss of your income might force your spouse to return to the workforce. This means there are now unexpected costs to going back to work such as daycare. It Can Save Your Children from Taking on Student Loan Debt: If you planned to send your kids to post secondary, then having life insurance coverage will ensure that you make these plans a reality, no matter what happens to you. Your life insurance coverage can be used to fund your kid’s higher education, eliminating the need for them to rely on devastating student loans. These are just some of the reasons to keep your policies going. If you need to change them to help save some money, let me know and I am happy to help!
