I don’t usually post work by others on my account, but the cover of the latest @verandamag designed by @melanieturnerinteriors took my breath away. This is the true definition of timeless style. My eyes took a wonderful trip around this space, from the grounding feel of the floor, to the soft ombré stair runner, and moving on to the light wall sconces. And don’t get me started on the balance created by the striking art and vase vignette. There is no such thing as a too large of a piece of art. Now that we put behind us the scariest Halloween, we move on to planning for next week. Most of us work from home, and it looks like this is not going to change soon. If you have a room rarely used (this used to be a living room), why not change it in an elegant home office. I designed this room as a timeless space with soft and hard elements and a gender neutral colour scheme. Our lives are fluid, and so should be our homes. Renovating a bathroom is an investment, not something we do every year. So how do you choose the finishes in such a way that 5 years from now you don’t feel that your bath is outdated? If you answered timeless materials and colours you are correct. It is easy to get distracted by the on trend accent tiles. We see them repeatedly in interior design magazines, then we go to a store and bingo: that tile we saw in print is right there waiting for us... so beautiful! Nope, stop... right there and don’t touch it. By the time it appeared in a magazine, that accent tile is almost on the way out and in the next few years your bathroom will be outdated. For this bathroom, I chose variations of white, with depth created by marble veins. It just happened that the client wanted all marble in this case, but the same look can be achieved with regular tiles.
