We're rapt to receive this endorsement from our recent housesit in Walthamstow, north east London. We had a great 3 months here and recommend the area to all.
We are we at now? We're into our third week in wonderful Walthamstow - that's London E17 for you geography fans. Our homeowners have gone abroad and left us to look after their lovely home....for a whole three months! So we get to enjoy all summer here, and as you'll see we are already reaping the benefits. Walthamstow is a buzzy area of north London, diverse, creative and super friendly. It's also really well connected being at the end of the London Underground Victoria Line. It's a bit sad that we don't have any pets to mind while we are here, but it's a nice change to have a break from all those litterboxes!

This is a retropost, looking back at some of our earlier housesitting adventures. Up until April 2016 we had had a great run of housesitting jobs, completing 12 sits in what we considered to be a very fortunate, unbroken run. Now, for some unexplained reason, we suddenly hit a dry spell. Our next scheduled housesit commenced on May 8th. We had a month to fill and it was still a little cold out to consider sleeping under the stars. [ 1,065 more word ] https://lostcolonials.wordpress.com//08/31/retropost-the-/
We loved staying with Nala in Southgate this past spring. She was a cool cat and a great companion in a fabulously spacious and comfortable home. We are pleased to be recommended by her owners: "Tim and Teresa were fantastic at looking after our lovely Nala and our home. The house was beautifully clean and tidy when we returned and most importantly Nala was very happy! I would definitely recommend them - thank you"

It's our last night with the gorgeous Miecia. We've had a fun time hanging out with her in south west London while her owners were away in Poland getting married. Tomorrow we are on vacation - yes, even housesitters need a holiday! We're off to stay with friends in Leeds. Teresa's especially looking forward to seeing their chickens again - and fresh eggs in the morning! In a weeks time we're back in north east London to start a pet-free, three month housesit in buzzy Walthamstow.
As we move on to our next sit we wave bye bye to the lovely Nala who kept us company for three weeks in Southgate, North London. Nala was a lovely cat who followed you around and just enjoyed human company. Next stop for us is a two week sit in Worcester Park - back to being South Londoners for a short while
House and pet sitting means moving around, a lot. It's probably not the lifestyle for those of you out there who enjoy a slow paced and predictable routine. But if you're not fazed by the thought of packing all your belongings and moving every few weeks to an entirely different location, then read on! Scheduling - how do we organise our sits? We're rapt to get a great reference from our recent housesit in Mile End! This was a really great sit with two cool cats, Pipi and Tui. Mile End is well worth a visit if you haven't been to that neck of London before. It's becoming more and more gentrified but still retains a fair dose of Eastenderness. "Tim and Teresa looked after our house and two cats for three weeks. They did a great job, kept in touch and left the house clean and tidy. They were happy to come round pri...or to the house sit to go through the cat detail and quirks of our house. The cats took to them straight away and we felt very reassured that they would be in good hands while we were away. Tim and Teresa are very organised, are great communicators, as well as practical and a friendly couple and we wouldn't hesitate using them again to house sit or recommend them to others" See more
Meet Nala, our current housesitting pal. We're into our second week of a month long stint in Southgate, north London...or N14 for any London postcode geeks out there. Nala's owners are actually allergic to cats so Nala is only allowed to hang out in certain spots...this cushion being one of her favourites. She knows the routine but that of course hasn't stopped her trying to sit on laps in no-go zones. Of course when we aren't around she no doubt sits wherever she damn well pleases!
Happy Easter from the Lost Colonials in London's Mile End. Here's a fresh blog post to help you celebrate! https://lostcolonials.wordpress.com//a-brief-sojourn-in-lo
We're thrilled to be fully booked to early September with house and cat sits. We're looking after these two cute characters, Tui and Pipi, in Mile End until the end of the week. Tim goes ahead to Southgate on Wednesday, where we have a month with lovely Nala, followed by two weeks with the Siberian cat Miecia in Worcester Park. We cap it off with three months in a house-only sit in Walthamstow, and look forward to keeping you posted of our adventures! We welcome enquiries for long term sits from September.
This is a retropost, looking back on our recent housesitting adventures. It was late March 2016 and London's winter was in its last throes. The mornings were still crisp but there were plenty of signs of new life springing forth. We had been in South London since early January. Lots had changed in our time here. Teresa had quit a job she hated (the decision made over medicinal Martini) and I started my first job in the UK, as a trainee surveyor. Introducing our current housesit pal....Gizmo! He's a 3 year old boy who was rescued in 2015 from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. He looks all black but close up he's got a shimmering reddish glow to his super sleek coat. He's an independent boy and likes to do his own thing most of the time, but enjoys a lap when in the mood for some company.
