The Ontario Government has updated #COVID19 testing guidelines for long-term care homes starting next week. LTCHs in regions in Orange-Restrict, Red-Control, and Lockdown levels will now require that staff, essential caregivers, and support workers who provide direct care need to be tested weekly and show proof of a negative result. Support workers who do not provide direct care must verbally attest to having received a negative test in the past two weeks. For LTCHs in reg...ions at the Green-Prevent and Yellow-Protect levels, testing will continue every two weeks for staff, volunteers, caregivers and visitors. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer says COVID-19 modelling predicted daily case counts to be 1,200-1,500 around this time, says our current daily case numbers may be encouraging and could be a sign that we are leveling the curve On Halloween: recommendations have been given to health units - keep Trick or Treating outside, no big gatherings, being careful when handing out tricks or treats, and wearing facial coverings. Specific recommendations in hot zones (Toronto, Peel, and Ottawa) will be released in the coming days.
