Youth Ventures 02.12.2020

Makala Parrill is a 16-year-old girl who began her business a year ago based on a love for baking. She has become widely successful in her community and has gen...erated more profit than she ever hoped to. She has named her business Makala’s Baked Goods and everyone certainly loves them. Makala has a long list of sweets that includes bread, dough, sweet classics, and any dessert you can think of. She is always adding new products to her list if her customers ask for different sweets. Makala decided to start her business as it has always been a passion of mine. It’s something I enjoy doing. Makala took the initiative and jumped at the opportunity to turn this passion to service others, by doing something she loves. Makala joined Youth Ventures with the hope of expanding her customer line, product line, and profits. Youth Ventures has helped my business grow in a number of different ways. My name is now recognizable thanks to Youth Ventures for creating posters, business cards, Facebook pages etc. The initial dream was to be able to make people feel at home and happy with homemade sweets and pastries at an affordable price. Owning your own business Is not for everyone but it is the perfect fit for Makala. She really enjoys being my own boss. I can work hours I feel comfortable with and don’t have the stress of asking for time off or having to plan events around a work schedule. Since developing and maintaining a business entirely on your own can be stressful and conflict often arises, Makala has never let it get her down. Her biggest challenge was the fear of failure, that she would not be able to keep on top of everything to stay successful and reliable. That is no longer a challenge for Makala. Over the past year Makala has had raging success with her business. Her customer list is continuing to grow, as well as her product line and profits. Her biggest success so far for Makala’s Baked Goods is when she attended the craft fair last summer. This was a perfect opportunity to showcase her products to new and existing customers. Makala sold out completely and managed to gain 15 extra customers that same day. Makala’s advice for future entrepreneurs is to trust your instincts and believe in your self and your potential. You know you better than anyone and you are capable of anything. The next step for Makala’s Baked Goods is hopefully expansion in customers and equipment. Word of mouth, posters, business cards, events and Facebook is how Makala provides awareness for her business. Customers can call, email, or Facebook message her to place their orders. Makala is always on time with orders/ delivery if needed. She can be reached at: Email: [email protected] Facebook Website: Makala’s Baked Goods Cell Phone: 1(709)-660-8623 See more
