The results are in from the Toronto Board of Trade survey with Environics of young professionals’ home ownership aspirations. SURVEY FINDINGS While young professionals in the GTA are twice as likely as those aged 40+ to purchase a home in the next year, they want more options beyond the 1-bedroom condo. 32% are likely to buy a home in the next 12 months... 50% want to buy in the City of Toronto 69% want to buy units with three or more bedrooms 58% identify cost as the reason they are not likely to buy a home WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE FOR THE BOARD? As a voice for Toronto’s young professionals and the business community at large, the Board is speaking up on the effects of housing affordability to attract and retain top talent. Our goal is to spur a constructive dialogue on the lack of supply and recommend viable and fair policy solutions to the region’s housing affordability issue.
