To celebrate the end of Canada Music Week we are posting the full Canada Music Week online concert! Check out the lovely performances by respected Yukon composers, performers and music students. This concert was organized Yukon Registered Music Teachers’ Association to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Canada Music Week Nov. 22-28.... It was pre-recorded at the Yukon Arts Centre earlier in November and is also available to view on the YRMTA website (www.yrmta.ca). About Canada Music Week: The aims of Canada Music Week are to bring to the attention of the public, through various means, the importance of Canadian music; to support composers and performers of Canadian music; to introduce contemporary music to young Canadians and stimulate a keener appreciation and understanding of this music, and to encourage music educators to widen their knowledge and experience of Canadian works. Canada Music Week is organized by the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations.Thousands of Canadians experience Canada Music Week festivities each year in their communities.

Yukon Composer Spotlight # 4: Olivier de Colombel Olivier moved to the Yukon from Paris, France in 2014, and has become a saught after musician, teacher and composer in the Territory. His recent composition, La cinquième saison, portrays the acceleration of changes in cultural, artistic, political and social aspects over the past decade, as well as the accompanying perceptions of beauty/lack of beauty, duality and impermanence, tension and release, consonance and dissonan...ce. YRMTA is highlighting a different composer each day from Nov. 22-28 to celebrate Canada Music Week. Each artists is also featured in the online Canada Music Week Concert found at www.yrmta.ca.
