ok I have to read this. My neighbours forage, ferment, cure and whatever else you do with food that doesn't come from a store. I'm happy if I can grow a carrot. Baby steps.
Truth be told I'm more of a Dao of Pooh kinda guy, but this is a timely piece for today with some simple but effective ideas. I especially like practicing gratitude as an uplifting exercise.
As if 2020 wasn't challenging enough, now let's try and figure out how the change to working from home can be handled at tax time. This will definitely need a chat with your tax expert but this article is good place to start with some of the basic pointers outlined. Enjoy.
I'm going to squeeze this one in a bit early. After the holidays and after all the great meals and treats, here's a light read with some good suggestions to get back on track simply. Just substituting out a few culprits is a good place to start. Stay healthy.
Who uses cash these days? Or maybe the more interesting question is who has a $500 note.
We're all going to live to a hundred but sometimes the wheels fall off along the way. I'd like to think everyone is aware there are plans we can put in place to help ease the challenges we might face, so that you can focus on healing. Here's a quick little video that describes how critical illness coverage works. Let me know if this raises any questions for you.
If you're curious to do a quick and simple needs analysis for yourself here's a handy little tool. Keep in mind that one of your greatest assets to insure is your income.
Here's a nice shout out to Sunlife. From my experience I do think the company to a person does try to be of value and service to their clients.
I know we're all bombarded with info on covid right now so I hesitate to post anything in this direction. But here's a simple reference chart to consult if you're not sure if you're coming down with a routine seasonal flu or covid. Getting your flu shot right now seems like a pretty good and simple thing to do especially for this fall.
One more for a Friday afternoon. No surprise we're all suffering in some form during the pandemic. It's so important to seek help if only for a chat or to rebalance. But don't suffer in silence. If you have a health plan through your work or a personal plan please use it. You can get counseling services or a relaxing massage etc. And if you don't have a health plan let me know you have options that can help.
Costco has the christmas stuff out so maybe it's not too early for this kind of article. We live on a rural property so socially distanced takes on another meaning altogether. But I think the best point made here is to give yourself a break if you need it. Always sage advice.
To all artists, collectors and culture hounds this amazing biennale of Canadian work is gearing up again. Unlike many art prizes the work is juried on its own merits as the jurors are not provided names of artists.
Not a big read, but just a nice reminder. Be kind to yourself, work on your self-worth. That's what is most important and I'm convinced is the path towards happiness.
We have three kids going back to school next week so I share in the collective anxiety. Here's a decent read if you're not already overloaded. My favourite line is: Take a few deep breaths, center yourself and lean into the conversation.
