Affordable, safe family housing options are lacking across the Northwest Territories. What more can be done from all levels to help solve this housing crisis?

YWCA NWT receives calls weekly and sometimes daily for families across the territory who are desperate to get their families off their friend/aunt/neighbour/mother's couch and into a secure home. It's time for investment in affordable family housing options across the NWT.

Call for board members! If you want to contribute your time and skills to enhance the quality of life for women, children and families in the NWT, we have an opportunity for you. You will provide strategic direction and financial oversight to lead the largest social service organization in the NWT. Approximate time commitment 6 hours monthly. Interested? Send an overview of why you are interested in volunteering for YWCA NWT, any board or governance experience, and a resume to [email protected]. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences.

We've got wheels! Thanks to support from Rio Tinto Diavik Diamond Mines Inc and Yellowknife Community Foundation via the Federal Emergency Community Support fund, housing staff can do home visits more easily and safer, and deliver essential supplies to clients.
