You were made to twist. Let's talk about T-spine (Mid Back) mobility. When your t-spine is tight, it can limit movement and cause other muscles to over compensate, leading to pain and dysfunction. So how do we fix it? Reach, bend and twist! If you don't move it, you lose it. We tend to stop these movements, especially twisting, as we get older. Good ol Saskatchewan weather! If you don't have access or own a snowblower here are some tips for shovelling! Do not rush, the snow isn't going anywhere and probably neither are you Bend at the hips and push your chest out when lifting the snow, avoid rounding your back... Take breaks and watch your heart rate. If you feel chest pain, dizziness or nausea stop and monitor Make sure you are dressed appropriately, it was +15 C less than a week ago... Your mindset matters. If you go into every workout thinking "it has to be hard enough so that I burn X amount of calories or else I'm wasting my time" If before every meal you are thinking "I definitely can't eat over X amount of calories or else I'll be over eating for the day" ... In the long run you are going to fail. View each workout as a way to improve your movement skills, and to move your body because you love it. View each meal as a way to gain nutrients and energy. Yes even pizza will give you energy! Your mindset needs to start with LOVE for your body, not punishment to obtain a certain result. IT IS HOT! Kratos has some tips for exercising in the heat. 1) Drink lots of water! All day, no excuses! ... 2) Go slow, focus on the quality of your Movements vs getting as many reps in as possible 3) Workout in the morning or evening while its still cool 4) Stay in the shade 5) Use a cool cloth And most importantly, if you feel faint or dizzy stop exercising and get to a cool place. Together with @mackie.physio We will be offering two outdoor classes! Classes begin July 7th and run until Aug 27th (there will be no classes the week of Aug 3rd (the 4th and 6th)... Bootcamp every Tuesday/Thursday at 9am Join us for an early morning sweat session. These full-body workouts will includecardio intervals and resistance moves that will tone and sculpt your body. Or Strong and Stable Class every Tuesday/Thursday at 10am Work on your Stability, Mobility, Balance, and Strength with this low impact fitness class. Full-body workouts designed to keep you moving and injury-free. Both classes will be held at James Anderson Park (Right Behind the clinic). If there is bad weather, it will be moved to online for that day. Participants will be required to bring their ownmat, thera band, and water bottle. BBQ season is in full swing! What are you guys coking up? These are the easiest Turkey burgers I have ever made 1 lb ground Turkey meat ... 1 tbsp chili powder 1/4 tsp garlic powder 1/4 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp oregano 1/2 tsp paprika 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper Simply mix together, form into 4 patties and then pan-fry them for about 5 mins on each side. I just topped ours with some lettuce, and mayo. #yxefitness #yxe #saskatoon #saskatoonfitness #yxeliving
