YYC Save Movement

At Lilydale chicken slaughterhouse today hoping to get some footage. They have purchased many of the surrounding houses due to various complaints including ammonia leaks and chickens running around with their heads cut off. One neighbour said, "They must have got away from the machine." They've also made some changes to their facility including building a sound barrier and spraying the property with an industrial deodorizer. It's crazy how much these 'industries' try to hide. No one wants to see this, no one wants to hear it but are willing to pay other people to do it for them. #BeTheChange #YYCSaveMovement #BearWitness #Document #Educate #Love

So sorry for all the confusion. Have just discovered that there are no trucks on the weekends. The last truck is Friday 10am. Then there are trucks Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 9:30, and 10am. This means that all truck vigils, and documentation will be done in the week. I will also be going out to Lethbridge and Red Deer so if you would like to join me you're always welcome. I will post when I plan to do that as well. We will have reoccurring weekly vigils. For those who can't participate in the week we will be doing leafleting events, and raising awareness about Lilydales on the weekends. The Save Movement is growing and it's time for us to do something about it here in YYC (Calgary) I would love to create a strong group of advocates to join me in bearing witness and documenting the condition of these animals as they show up to these "facilities." As some of you may know Canada has the worst livestock transporation laws in the Western world where it currently allows for cattle to be in transit for 52 hours without access to food or water, while the maximum for pigs and chickens is 36 hours. This is horrifying - and I think it's important that more people become aware of these regulations and can see it for themselves. These animals endure a lifetime of pain, and misery, and then their last day is filled with absolute torture, only to be consumed and forgotten about within 5 minutes. We owe it to them. When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help.
