[ FIXED TEETH IN A DAY ] is a one day procedure where failing or missing teeth are replaced with dental implants (a minimum of four dental implants are placed into the top or bottom jaw), and a temporary bridge is then fitted to the implants later that same day. With fixed teeth in a day, patients can have a brand new flawless smile same-day! This procedure ensures that patients don’t ever have to spend even one day without teeth. The temporary bridge remains in place while t...he implants fuse with the jawbone, and is designed to help speed up the healing process. Patients can eat and be free from their dentures on the day of implant placement. The temporary teeth are then replaced with a permanent restoration three to six months later, after the healing period is over. Same-Day Teeth is a great alternative to conventional dentures. Unlike dentures, fixed teeth will not move in the mouth, and are unlikely to need any relining or adjusting over time. The key to this procedure is in the strategic placing of the implants themselves. Using advanced CBCT scanning technology, the Dentist will find the strongest, thickest part of your jawbone and place the implants there. Additionally, the surgical guides will make the implant placement predictable and very precise. If you are living with uncomfortable, loose dentures, which are affecting the quality of your life, then fixed teeth in a day could be an option for you! You may also be suitable for treatment if you: Have no teeth at all Have a failing bridge and don’t like the thought of wearing dentures Have severe periodontal gum disease and tooth loss Want fixed teeth Are limited to eating soft foods because of loose or ill fitting dentures It is important to note that same day teeth are not suitable for everyone. Call us today (403) 475-3330 to see if this alternative denture option is right for you! Our initial consultations are always FREE. You can also send us an email to [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you and help you get your smile back! To learn more, visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca.

[ PARTIAL DENTURE FRAMEWORK ] If you are missing a few teeth , a removable partial denture is one way to replace them. Partial dentures have several benefits. First, and most importantly, they make it easier for you to chew your food. They can also help you speak better if your speech has changed due to missing teeth. Finally, removable partial dentures support the cheeks and lips so the face does not sag and make you look older. . Teeth are made to work together. When you ...are missing teeth, the nearby teeth may tilt or drift into the empty space. The teeth in the opposite jaw can also shift up or down, ultimately affecting your bite and placing more stress on your teeth and jaw points. . Removable partial dentures have artificial teeth that are fixed to a base, matching the color of your gums. The base may cover a metal framework, such as the one seen here. Partial dentures often have some form of clasp that attaches to your natural teeth. . When first inserted, partial dentures may feel odd or tight for the first few weeks. This is normal, but if you're experiencing issues or discomfort, it's best to contact your Denturist. You may simply need an adjustment. . Our frameworks are made by the wonderful team at Unice Dental Art @unice_dental_art . We love supporting local businesses in Calgary! And would like to give them a special thanks for all their beautiful work! . If you are missing teeth, give us a call today to schedule your free, no obligation consultation (403) 475-3330. [ PARTS OF A COMPLETE DENTURE ] Millions of people rely on dentures everyday, and it's not just seniors. People of all ages use dental appliances for both cosmetic and health reasons. . A complete denture is used when a person is missing all of their natural teeth This type of denture is removable and is held in place by suction. The 2 main components of a complete denture is: . (1) The Denture Base - which covers the residual ridge and restores the lost gingival part. It... also supports and holds the artificial teeth. This part of the denture is responsible for denture retention. (2) Artificial Teeth - function like regular teeth, and help with chewing, and bitting food. . Both the denture base and teeth are customizable. The base can be matched to the color of your natural gums, while the teeth can be as white or discolored as you'd like to reflect the natural aging process. . At YYC Denture Clinic we make sure to involve each patient in the smile design process. Prior to the completion of any denture, we schedule a try-in appointment, which will allow you to see how your denture will look prior to them being inserted. . If you feel that the denture is not the right fit, size or shape, we will have it corrected until you are 100% satisfied. . Patient satisfaction is our top priority and we GUARANTEE you'll love your new smile! . Our denture consultations are FREE, so give us a call today (403) 475-3330 to schedule your appointment! You can also send us an email to [email protected]. For more information, visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca. . [ NEW DENTURES - WHAT TO EXPECT ] When you get your new dentures, remember: no two people are the same, so your experience may not be the same as someone else's. If you've had dentures before, your new dentures may feel different than the ones you've had previously. So, what can you expect from your new dentures? See our top 3 points below: . (1) You must learn to manipulate your dentures. At first you may look, speak, and eat in a way that you're unaccustomed to. But with ti...me, you should adapt very readily. Most patients require about 2 3 weeks to learn to work with new dentures. A few patients may require more time. But don’t be discouraged if you take longer than most. . (2) You will find that dentures are not as efficient as your natural teeth when eating. However, having dentures is BETTER than being without teeth. When eating, start with soft foods and take small bites. Avoid biting with the front teeth because it will cause the dentures to become unstable and shift. This can lead to sore gums, which are common at the beginning. It is best to cut your foods into small bites, but if you must take a bite use the area around the canine teeth. . (3) Your speech may sound strange initially. But with practice - reading aloud from a book or newspaper - you should be able to speak clearly in a few days. . We hope you found these points helpful! Should you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us by phone (403) 475-3330 or send us an email to [email protected]. [ DRY MOUTH ] Are you suffering from dry mouth? If yes, you’re not alone. One in four people have dry mouth, which means they aren’t producing enough saliva to keep their mouth moist. . Millions of people who wear dentures also suffer from dry mouth, causing them discomfort and negatively affecting their health. Why is Saliva so important? It is essential to people’s health, particularly denture wearers. Saliva creates a suction between the denture and the gum tissue, helping... stabilize and retain the denture in place. It also acts like a lubricant, minimizing sore spots and irritations in the mouth caused by dentures. . Xerostomia is the correct term for dry mouth, and there are many reasons it happens. The most common cause include: certain medications, aging, nervousness, stress, smoking, autoimmune deficiencies, dehydration, vitamin deficiencies, cancer therapy, etc. . Treatments for dry mouth include: changing medication or adjusting dosages. There are also over the counter prescription medications that help with dry mouth. Drinking more water, and using some cleaners and adhesives also work well in keeping your mouth moist. . For more information visit our website: www.yycdentureclinic.ca. . [ TOOTH SHADES ] Selecting the perfect tooth shade for dentures requires skill and experience. @yycdentureclinic we have a large range of tooth sizes, shapes, lengths and colors. When fabricating dentures, the Denturist will select a tooth shade that compliments your appearance and provides the most natural look for you. . If you have natural teeth remaining, the Denturist will consider their shade and ensure the teeth selected for the partial denture match your existing tee...th. . Your skin tone and age also play a role in denture aesthetics. Generally, lighter skin tones benefit from lighter tooth shades, while darker skin tones benefit from slightly darker shades. Additionally, with age, our teeth naturally darken. Hence, selecting very white teeth for a mature person might make it obvious that they're wearing dentures. . We like to involve patients in the smile design process. The Denturist will select your ideal tooth shade, but will always ask for your feedback. We also often ask our patients to bring photos of themselves, highlighting their smile. This helps the Denturist gain a better understanding of how your natural smile looked like, and will aid us in fabricating your denture. . Prior to your dentures being inserted, we have you come in for a try-in appointment. This will allow you to see how your dentures will look like prior to them being finalized. If you feel that they are not the right shade, size or shape, we will correct them to ensure that you are 100% satisfied. . At YYC Denture Clinic patient satisfaction is of outmost importance to us. When you smile, we smile . . For more information, please visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca. [ FINAL IMPRESSION - PARTIAL DENTURES ] You had your denture consultation and you have decided to proceed with fabricating a new partial denture. Great! What’s next? Taking impressions. In order to construct a well fitting denture that fits your mouth perfectly, the Denturist will need to take impressions of your mouth. . What does that entail? The Denturist will select a dental impression tray that fits your mouth and oral structures. Next, the tray will be filled with impre...ssion material, which starts out as semi-solid, and inserted into your mouth. Once the material sets it becomes rubber like solid. This typically takes 30 seconds to a few minutes, depending on the material. Once the tray is removed from your mouth you will be able to see the imprints of your dentition and oral structures. How cool! . Depending on your treatment plan, the Denturist may take more than one set of impressions. Preliminary impressions are taken to begin treatment, and are then used to create custom trays for final impressions. Final impressions are taken using highly accurate impression material, and result in much more accurate impressions in comparison to the preliminary impressions. The image displayed here is of final impressions for partial dentures. . Once final impressions are taken, the Denturist will create a model for that impression (see second photo). The model will then be sent to the lab, which will fabricate a customized cast metal framework (see third photo). This framework will reinforce the acrylic and give the partial denture additional strength. . Have more questions? Comment below , or send us an email to [email protected]. We are here to help! [ HOW TO EAT WITH DENTURES ] It takes time to get adjusted to new dentures, especially if you have never worn dentures before. For the first few days, we recommend sticking with soft foods such as: - Applesauce - Soups - Pudding... - Oatmeal - Mashed Potatoes - Yogurt Once your mouth gets used to your dentures, you can introduce solid foods. You want to start slowly with bite-sized pieces, and food that doesn’t require excessive chewing. This can include things like: - Pasta - Soft Bread - Cooked Green and vegetables - Soft Fish - Rice With time you will be able to eat the food you love and enjoy, like that green juicy apple! It is important that you chew on both sides of you mouth, as it will keep your dentures in place and the chewing pressure is distributed evenly. You also want to avoid chewing with your front teeth. Instead, bite food with your side teeth and use your tongue to bring food to the back of your mouth. You also want to ensure that you chew your food thoroughly before swallowing. If you treat your dentures right, you’ll be eating well for many years to come! We hope these tips have been helpful. For more information, please visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions. [ DENTURE CLEANER ] For optimal oral health, and to keep your dentures looking their best, it is important to clean your dentures regularly. Proper cleaning of dentures will minimize the buildup of bacteria. . When cleaning your dentures, we recommend standing over a folded towel or sink full of water. This way, if you accidentally drop your dentures, the chance of them breaking is greatly reduced. . Avoid using toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it tends to be too abras...ive and can cause scratches. Nu-Dent is a professional strength denture cleaner developed by a Canadian Denturist for the safe and effective removal of coffee, tea, tobacco, tartar, and calculus without damaging the appliance. One bottle is good for 64 cleanings! . YYC Denture Clinic sells Nu-Dent. So if you're in need of a good denture cleaner, drop by our clinic and get yourself a bottle or two. We're always happy to see you! . . For more information, please visit our website at www.yycdentureclinic.ca. You can also call us at (403) 475-3330.
