Take care of your bottom bracket! This one hasn't been serviced in a decade, the grease was congealed! There was so much dirt in and around the bearing that it couldn't do it's job! Luckily for the classic Shimano BB, and the customer, there wasn't any large debris inside so the races were still in good shape. After cleaning everything, re-packing the bearing cages and race with grease, the bearing were actually spinning with little resistance again! Your bottom bracket is your silent supporter, it will take a beating and grind for a long time before it starts to audibly complain. Please don't let it get to that point because by then there might be no saving it!
This is an older bike, around 1980s or so! But everything works great! I saved it from the graveyard so someone could enjoy it! $50, OBO.
