Congratulations to the recipients of the Community Spirit and Volunteer Awards which was held on Monday, September 28th. - The 13 Mi’kmaq communities, and all ...municipalities, towns, and villages across the province received the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia Community Spirit Recognition Plaque - 67 volunteers received the 2020 Provincial Representative Volunteer Award - The Hudson Family received the 2020 Family Volunteer Award - Laura Isaacs received the 2020 Youth Volunteer Award - Alex White, Tiff Ward, Tory Phinney, Matt Trecartin, Sylvia Beirnes, and Jonathan Torrens received the Nova Scotia Strong Award for organizing the Online Tribute held on April 24th to honour the 22 victims of April’s tragedy More information about each award recipient can be found at https://novascotia.ca//Volunteer-Awards-Ceremony-program.p.

These past few months have been some of the most challenging in our province’s history. But they have also been some of the most inspiring, as we have seen indi...vidual Nova Scotians and communities come together to support and take care of each other. Today, we celebrated that enduring spirit of kindness and strength at the Provincial Volunteer Awards. This year, all Mi’kmaw communities, municipalities, towns and villages across the province received the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Spirit Recognition Plaque for stepping up to serve the needs of their most vulnerable during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. A new Provincial Volunteer Award was presented this year -- the Nova Scotia Strong Award will be given each year to recognize the deep level of caring that Nova Scotians demonstrate towards each other. In its inaugural year, I was proud to present this award to the individuals who organized the Nova Scotia Remembers Online Tribute to commemorate those lost in the tragic events of April 18 and 19. Congratulations to all 67 Representative Award recipients, Youth Volunteer Award winner, Laura Isaacs of Scarsdale and Family Volunteer Award winners, the Hudson Family of Dartmouth.
