In 2012 I started tinkering on a game idea tentatively titled "Beyond the Cloud". Over the next few years I slowly fleshed out the storyline and characters, ending up with a pretty sizeable story. I then put it on the shelf for a rainy day. I dusted it off last week and started reading it. It's always cool to come back to a project after a few years, it felt pretty fresh to me and I was inspired by it. I've also been playing "A Night in the Woods" and really enjoyed the low ...key gameplay and narrative. I started to imagine a game that was equal parts "The Cave" aka. Light platforming and puzzles with the exploratory narrative push of "A Night in the Woods". Today I started to explore the main character, Jarek. After a few pages of wrong turns, this guy appeared to me. We'll see where it goes from here... *This is an exploratory drawing, the background is shamelessly stolen from Rayman just so I can give it some context. I plan on shamelessly ripping off the feel of those backgrounds for this game too :)
