It is easily learned, and once mastered, the exercises can be used as one's priorities and situation require. Hello my Dharma friends: We long to become the bright ones who are well trained in the factors of awakeningmindfulness, investigation, energy, joy, tranquility, concentration and equanimity. Why not spend this weekend delighting in the renunciation of grasping? Temple will offer a 2-day meditation retreat from this Friday at 10 am to Sunday at 8 am. The day gets longer and the sun shines with more intensity. Time to plant the seeds under the grow light. At the next Sangha Wo...rk Practice (March 4) a new gardening season will take off and beautiful lotus lanterns will be handmade for the Buddha's Birthday (May 6-7). Too busy to come to temple? Here is a teaching I found very helpful, reading about a grandmother. "Even though she worked hard from early morning until late at night, she became a highly realized person by practicing in gaps. Whenever she wasn't talking to somebody, she would relax her mind and be present. Whether she was milking cows, washing dishes, or walking from here to there, she used any opportunity to settle and expand her mind. With every pause, she found outer solitude and thus discovered an inner solitude that was unshakable and profound." Each moment is a precious opportunity to settle and expand our mind. Love and Peace, Sanha

Dear my Dharma friends: Past few weeks I have been spending a good amount of time doing office work. Bookkeeping to produce an annual financial report; filing away fliers and signup sheets; leafing through membership registrations... Last year we had a good inflow of new or renewed members, but the number of active members remains the same. Our commitment and enthusiasm seems to come and go too easily. Tomorrow we will gather to celebrate the Lunar New Year's Day. Another opp...ortunity to start afresh. We would love to find those who wish to commit once again to regular meditation and giving through temple membership. If you are interested, please come by to have tea with me. Parents with young children (5 to 10) are welcome to attend our monthly Children's Service this Sunday at 10:30 am. Working toward the steady and energetic Sangha, Sanha
