This is cute, ingenious and disturbing all at the same time. These Granny Pods can definitely address a growing issue of no place to go for an aging parent and can keep our loved ones close to us when their care needs are increasing. The technology in place is brilliant and I think should be adapted into seniors living everywhere. My biggest concern is having Granny in the self contained unit in the backyard...the shed as my 11 year old referenced. My mother-in-law thought it... would be more upscale than a shed out back which is true but it would seem strange to me to look out my kitchen windows at Gran's Pod. Perhaps it could be modified to be an extension onto a home? Perhaps you want Granny right inside with you? Perhaps your Gran would enjoy the social aspect of a larger facility? Perhaps Gran wants nothing to do with leaving her own home? There are so many variables for families to consider.
