Hello, friends. Just flipping through Facebook, and watching the sun heading down already. sigh. Then I came across this and I have to share it with you! How many of us feel that our lives have been cut down by Covid-19? How many of us have lost dear ones to this terrible virus? Friends, we can endure. Just like this tree, we have the beauty and hope of Advent. Like a tree needs water, we look to the light of Christ for hope. This second Sunday of Advent, look for the glimmers. Or, if you’re feeling tree-ish today, catch that first scent of the living water Christ offers us.

What?! A cat video? Seriously. Yep. Tomorrow’s sermon is all about welcome. Ernest the cat has a lot to teach us about welcome. So watch the video, you won’t regret meeting Ernest!

For this morning’s gospel reading, a beautiful setting by Thomas Tallis! Enjoy!

So beautiful, this tree branch. New buds, new life. In my sacred imagination, I wonder if Jesus walked past trees, his robes catching on the way to comfort Mary Magdalene. I wonder if all of creation feels the sizzle and pop! of the tremendous Man, having laid down His life, now picking it up again? (John 10:18) what a morning that must have been. He is Risen! He is risen, indeed!

Well, this looks like a great treat to take in on Easter Sunday evening at 7pm. Go to the Station Arts Centre Facebook page! Watching this, we may be separated in body, but not in spirit. Enjoy this beautiful lift to all our spirits.

One of my favourite poets. A beautiful verse for this day.

Good Friday. The torturous, slow death of a beloved son, friend and radical man happens today. Many times we’re tempted to right away point to joy of Easter. Are we trying too hard to be happy in the face of all of the adversity around us? I suggest that we sit for today in the space of mourning. The Son of God, dead. And so God shows us that our lament, our sorrow matters. God’s sorrow and grief were evident in Matthew 27 - earthquakes, rocks split, and the curtain in the Temple, torn from bottom to top. Last year, I would have shared that this was God opening up, allowing us free communication with the Divine. I still agree with that. But this year, I feel the grief of a Father in the death of a Son. And in this knowing, we are not alone. We are not alone.

Maundy Thursday Thoughts. It’s often at night that I feel the urge to create. To communicate something. Who needs early mornings? is what my brain is thinking. Anyways, I hope these reflections touch something in the vicinity of your heart. Poetry credit goes to Carol Penner.

Hello, Zoar. I am sitting in the sanctuary, in the silence and thinking of you all. You’ll notice the candles, all lit up. The beauty of the peace candle is shining, reminding me of our brothers and sisters in Christ in Eigenheim Mennonite Church. The hope of the candle that shines for our beloved member, Vic. I feel the calm of the Spirit, and I welcome all of you to open your hearts and your minds. At this time, I ask that we pray together. God, we are grateful for the ...safe return of our members who were in South Africa these past number of weeks! Thank-you, God. Abba, You are a good God. You know everything that is happening right now and you are standing with each one of us. You are by the side of people who are sick and who are asking the question, Could I be sick, too? Lord, you are Lord of every situation we are faced with. We pray for all of those who work outside of their homes. We pray for their safety, for their protection and that their resilience will grow, and that they will go from strength to strength. Jesus, our Friend and Brother. You understand how we feel, You who healed and stood beside death beds. Jesus, the face of God to us all, You are compassion personified. Help us to trust the friendship You offer us every moment. Holy Spirit, Guide and Comforter. Our community relies on You. We ask for Your movement among us. We ask to be emboldened to reach out, picking up our phones and using our hearts and voices to be extensions of Your love. To email, to message, to be hands and feet, bearing the gospel of peace in our homes. And if we work outside of our homes, we trust that we’ll also bring your gospel of peace as well to our hurting and confused world. God of all comfort, help us to live into the peace you offer to us every day. Keep us in Your holy name. Amen. Do you have requests or thoughts that you’d like to share? Hello, friends! I have missed communicating with all of you and I thought this may be a way to at least say hi! and share a prayer. This time of being apart has really taught me a lot about what being a part of ministry is to me. I want to grow and stretch - let’s do that together.
