Zoë Emily Fibre & Felt 20.09.2020

Hey, if you've got a pair of gummies, hikers, work boots, winter boots, slippers, sneakers or any other foot paraphernalia you can think of that need a little extra warm and fuzzy going into the colder months, I've got you covered. My felt insoles are cut to size and made from local Romney sheep and alpaca wool. They will be available through my online shop starting October 10th, when the Virtual Perth Studio Tour kicks off. The rocks were successfully born, the felt wombs turned right-side-out, and then felted to almost half their size and shaped into these vases.

After a preliminary layering and felting of fibres around these beautiful and HUGE Nova Scotian rocks, the vase openings are cut and now the rocks will be born. Felt wombs.

Wow! It's been a while. Hmmm, to give you the last year and a bit in a nutshell. Ben and I got married. We had a baby and hunkered down for the winter, getting used to a new life with Phoebe. COVID hit and we re-jigged our spring and summer plans - no classes here at the Cordwood Studio, so much more time for expanding the gardens and growing food on my end. Now, with fall here, that means more studio time in prep for the Perth Autumn Studio Tour We've gone virtual this year but don't let that deter you. All of us are busy creating and we're almost ready to bring you our newest work, online and by appointment, starting October 10th.

Some photos from the last workshop I taught at The Cordwood Studio. Such fun projects and people! Looking forward to doing it again this Sunday.

Shouting out to everyone in and around Toronto. The Upper Canada Fibreshed Marketplace will take place on Sunday March 3rd at the Centre for Social Innovation - 192 Spadina Ave. I'll be there! This event celebrates Ontario's fibre producers and artists. The @uppercanadafibreshed is an organization that connects those of us working within Ontario's fibre community. To me, these relationships are invaluable and the support that this organization offers around textiles, craft, farming and community is very important.

I had such a great time teaching last Saturday's class here at The Cordwood Studio. Ideas and visions changed over the course of the day, influenced by the process and materials. Being the guide to this creative process is quite a pleasure.
