Who’s planning a stay-cation?? Sometimes staying at home for your vacation can be more relaxing than going away. But you have to do a stay-cation properly! That means taking time for yourself to rest and recharge. A great way to do that is to get caught up on the self care things you haven’t had time for in your regular life. My go to self care is a fancy coffee and a brand new book ! What’s yours?

Stretching! Keep reading for the who-what-when-where-why-how of stretching WHO: Almost everybody can benefit from stretching! WHAT: This is a bit trickier. You want to make sure you’re doing the correct stretches for YOUR body. Sometimes muscles may feel sore and tight, but they could actually be weak and too long. This means stretching those muscles isn’t going to help get rid of soreness!... WHEN: Incorporate stretching into something that’s already part of your daily routine. This might be right before brushing your teeth, when you get into bed, during your morning coffee break...your can see where I’m going with this! If an activity is already an ingrained habit, adding a little something extra to it is way easier than trying to find a whole new chunk of the day to start stretching. WHERE: The great thing about most stretches is that you can do them almost anywhere with very little or no equipment. Sure not everyone might be comfortable popping up a runners lunge stretch on their desk at work, but that’s what stairwells are for! WHY: Stretching has many benefits, depending on your health and goals. It may be a simple as creating a reason to get up periodically throughout the day and move around or it may be to rehab an injury or even improve a specific athletic movement. HOW: This is where I come in! RMTs are trained in how stretches should be done to properly target muscles and avoid injury. As an RMT it’s my job to help you reach your health and wellness goals. In my opinion a big part of that is sending my clients home with home care, aka RMT homework! If you’re interested in how you can incorporate a stretching routine into your day or reach a specific goal with stretching send me a message!
