The Government of Canada has supported the expansion of 211 across Canada. Very soon everyone will be able to dial 2-1-1 for information on and referrals to community supports for their situation. Thank you Justin Trudeau on behalf of the Canadians who will want support during these difficult times and the amazing community services who just want to help Canadians.
Toy Drive and Holiday Meal Program registrations to receive toys and food over the holidays have started in some communities. Call 2-1-1 to find to out if there are toy programs and holiday hampers near you. We are getting updates all the time from communities. These lists do fill up fast. 211 is a helpline for information on and referrals to community, health, government and social services across Ontario. These include toy drives, food banks and meal programs, utility bill... assistance relief, outreach programs for the homeless, health services, winter snow shoveling for seniors, employment supports, income assistance programs and more. Some community programs are still accepting donations of clothing and delivering coats for children in need in the community. Some have been cancelled because of covid restrictions. Our Community Navigators are happy to check to see if organizations near you are still providing service if you are in need. 211 is a helpline for information and referrals to community, health, government and social services in Ontario. During these hard times of the pandemic, many of us are searching for more belonging, wondering where do I belong, where am I loved, where am I welcome, where do I matter and where am I needed? Many social services have created virtual get togethers, learning experiences and ways... to connect by phone or computer.
