The Gathering Place simply could not exist without our dedicated volunteers. So during this National Volunteer Week, we want to say a big THANK YOU for all you do and the support you give us. #NVW2021 This past year has looked different with the challenges of the pandemic. We have missed having you around and have felt your absence... from your helping hands to your smiling and positive faces, it just has not been the same. We are so happy to have you back in Alert Level 2! I...t is only because of our strong and loyal volunteer network that we can continue to create a safe and accepting place for the people who need it most. The theme for National Volunteer Week for 2021 is The Value of One, The Power of Many, and that couldn't be more true for us here at The Gathering Place. Each and every volunteer makes a difference and together they are the backbone of The Gathering Place and the hundreds of vulnerable Guests we serve every day. Thank you again for all you do. Join us in saying a big thank you to Charlotte, who raised over $250 after seeing a commercial for The Gathering Place and wanted to help those without a home or who may go hungry. It’s World Kindness Day and all of us at The Gathering Place are so appreciative for the kindness the community extends toward the most vulnerable in our society. Small acts of kindness can go a long way. World Kindness Day is a great time to do something for others. Here are a few suggestions: Text a friend to tell them you appreciate them. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line. Ask your neighbours if you can grab anything at the store for them.... Pick up litter in your neighbourhood. Tell us what you will be doing to spread kindness today and tag a friend to spread the message!
