Girl’s Connect focuses on connecting it’s participants to a safe community for girls with LD’s and ADHD. ... Participants will: - Develop Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) skills, e.g. building healthy relationships, identifying and managing emotions, coping with stress, etc. - Improve self-esteem and confidence. - Develop Executive Function and self advocacy skills. The Girl’s Group is an 8-week program that addresses the unique needs of females with LD’s and/or ADHD between the ages of 7-18. Participants are divided into age-appropriate groups of up to 6 participants per 2 facilitators. Groups meet weekly for 75-minute sessions. It is with great pleasure that the Learning Disabilities Association of York Region (LDAYR) presents this year‘s VIP award to Linda Lausic, Coordinator of Special Programs, Secondary for the York Region Catholic District school Board. This is a nomination-based award which recognizes the significant work of an individual or team. Throughout her educational career, Linda has remained passionate and her vocation, specifically in special education. In her role as Special Education Department Head, Linda mentored and trained teachers across the secondary panel with integrity and compassion. Her devotion to students with learning disabilities was evident in her commitment to ensuring inclusion and advocacy for those who could not advocate for themselves. Congratulations Linda!
