The calculation for determining the amount of epoxy you need is a volume calculation. You simply multiple the length of the pour by the depth of the pour by the average width of the pour and then convert to liters. When calculating the average width of the pour, we measure the width every 6 inches along the entire work piece and then divide by the total number of width measurements you took to determine our average. Length (L) X Depth (D) by Average Width (AVG W) Example:... One of the most common questions we get asked is which epoxy to use for which application. The answer is a little more involved than one might expect. - For this 2" deep pour we used EcoPoxy Flowcast with EcoPoxy "Mango" Metallic Pigment. When pouring 2" deep, we normally like to keep our shop around 18-19 degrees Celcius (64-66 degrees Farenheit). The cooler shop temperature allows the epoxy to cure at a more controlled rate and reduces the risk of a flash cure. - Most trad...itional bar top epoxies are designed for pours up to a 1/4" deep and will overheat and flash cure if poured in these volumes. This one was really interesting to film because we used a constant-drip technique that we've never tried before to distribute the epoxy. This will save quite a bit of time if you don't have access to a woodworking shop. The wood from Jeff Mack Supply has been kiln dried and dressed so it is very DIY friendly. 2) Make sure you remove all bark and loose material. The bark will fall off eventually anyways. 3) Fill all of the voids (or in this case, an engraving) with EcoPoxy UVpoxy. Filling all the voids will eliminate food or liquids from getting trapped in the board, making it easier to clean and maintain. 4) Sand the board at 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180 and 220 grit before applying Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil. Make sure you break all the edges until the entire board is smooth to the touch. 5) After applying the Cutting Board Oil, wait 24 hours and then wipe off the excess oil.
