The opioid crisis is claiming the lives of far too many. Thousands of people are grieving the loss of their loved ones and we continue to lose people at an alarming rate due to the current fentanyl epidemic. We have made shirts and sweaters to help raise awareness about this crisis, and we are so happy with the number of people who have shown support so far. The snake symbolizes the evil of the tainted drug supply, overdoses, addictions, trauma, and mental health struggles. T...he daisies represent the innocence of the people that it affects. The design holds a double meaning as well. In medicine, the snake symbolizes both healing and renewal. The daisies also represent hope and love. Help us to raise awareness about the opioid crisis by wearing our clothing and sharing Lukas’ story. Lukas’ own signature is located on the back, bottom left side of the products. Every holiday season since we have incorporated as a society, we have put on a donation drive for the people residing on the streets of the downtown Eastside of Vancouver, BC. Each year it has grown in size, and this year we hope to organize our biggest donation drive yet! LINK IN BIO!! Help give back to those who need it most - with drastic changes in climate we are so fortunate to be able to sleep with a roof over our heads. So many people have to survive under the harshest... conditions with no other option. Funds collected from this fundraiser will go directly towards: Meals and snacks Winter clothing (i.e., underwear, socks, gloves, jackets, base layers, heat warming pads, etc) Toiletries Gifts! Addiction is something that has impacted my family. Generally, those who don’t personally know this struggle get to turn a blind eye to the ways society fails people who’s lives intersect with substance abuse. Lukas society is doing the important work of educating and advocating on behalf of people who battle, succumb, and face addiction related mental health issues head on everyday. So many conversations that are kept quiet because of shame and misplaced embarrassment are being made public through Lukas Society. In this, I see a possibility of dispelling preconceived notions about people who choose substance use as a coping mechanism, and a chance for empathy to reign king. - Neena Robertson
