Please note that our team has reserved time at 11:00 for those who wish to observe a moment of silence for Remembrance Day. Did you know: Our team cannot wear traditional poppies, as the pin causes a risk to the furry friends that we work so closely with. Instead, the Royal Canadian Legion at Branch #317 in London generously provides us with poppy stickers as a safe option for our team. These simple stickers serve as a powerful reminder of our history as Canadians and a symbo...l of reflection for all those who served. All gave some, some gave all. We will remember them.

We love this spooky duo! When it was time for a check up with Dr. Emily, Lillie came dressed as a pumpkin... and Salem as himself! Salem wasn’t ready for his exam to be over and got back up on the table when it was Lillie’s turn! We’re so glad their mama captured this special moment. Some pets prefer a costume-free Halloween and that’s okay... But if your furry family member likes dressing up, show us their favourite Halloween look in the comments below!

It might look a little different this year, but Halloween is just around the corner! We love including our furry family members in all our favourite holidays, but we have to make sure their needs are considered too. No matter how you choose to celebrate this spooky season, here's what your pet wants you to know this Halloween!

: Due to its graphic and fatal symptoms, the Rabies virus has inspired wild fear, stories, and legends across the world for thousands of years. Through scientific innovation, vaccination, and strict quarantine laws, positive wildlife cases in Ontario are now quite rare. As a result, it can be easy to feel as if Rabies is no longer a danger to us or our furry family members.... However, the threat is still very real. Annually, thousands upon thousands of people and animals in less fortunate areas of the world continue to die from this horrific and 100% preventable disease. World Rabies Day aims to bring awareness to this issue, the importance of continuing to vaccinate our furry family members, and the work that has yet to be done on a global scale. However, in the year 2020, it also takes on a special meaning. The history of Rabies can also be a story of hope, the wonders of science, and the amazing things we can overcome when we work together to achieve a common goal. This year especially, that's something to celebrate. Click here to read more about the fascinating history of the "other" virus https://neighbourhoodpetclinic.com/a-bite-sized-history-of/ See more

This September will be a particularly tough one for many pets. Due to COVID-19, they've enjoyed spending their summer with the whole family around. However, soon many families will be returning to work and school, leaving our pets to be confused, lonely, and anxious. Here's what your furry family member wants you to know to help them prepare for the "Back to School Blues".

Multiple pets have visited us over the last 3-4 days while struggling with heat-related stress. We've been seeing this especially after they've walked to the clinic or been left in vehicles. Often, this happens to well-meaning owners who underestimate the weather, lose track of time, or do not understand the risks. Our furry friends do not sweat the same way humans do and instead rely mostly on panting to cool themselves, so while we feel fine on a warm day, our pets ...may be in danger. Just a reminder to please limit outdoor activity and walks to the early morning and late evening when temperatures are cooler, and to provide regular rest. NEVER leave your furry family member unattended in a vehicle. Even with the windows cracked, it does not provide adequate airflow for them to regulate their body temperature. Dogs in heat-related distress will very rarely whine or cry. They may even continue to play in the heat until they collapse. It is up to us to keep them safe before this happens. Please share to potentially save a life.

This Throwback Thursday is a special one! Olivia was one of our co-op students in 2016. If your furry family member had surgery during that time, chances are that Olivia didn't leave their side until they were discharged. She was always a helping hand around the clinic and would stay late, even though she had already acquired all of her required hours. After graduation, Olivia studied Animal Biology at the University of Guelph, but we would still see her around the cl...inic with her own furry family members. Now, four years later, she has been accepted into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at Ontario Veterinary College. We are so proud of her accomplishments and know she will make a wonderful veterinarian. Please join us in wishing a big congratulations to the future Dr. Coish! See more
