Posted @withrepost @smiletrain Did you know most children who are born with a cleft lip and/or palate develop normal speech once their palate is closed, but a significant amount will need further surgery or speech therapy? That is why our comprehensive cleft care program includes speech therapy. Communication problems that are addressed include language delay, articulation problems, and hypernasality. At Smile Train we are committed to supporting our patients through every step of their journey. #ItStartsWithASmile

The first time I saw a polydactyly surgery, I was amazed at just how intricate and complex the procedure was. It’s a lesson on how a timely surgical intervention can produce a lifetime of effects: improved dexterity, a normal appearance, and boundless confidence!! Posted @withrepost @clinton.morrison.md Congenital hand surgery is a fun part of my pediatric plastic surgery practice. The most common location for syndactyly, or finger fusion, is between the third and fourth fingers. This 7 month old patient also had an extra finger (polydactyly) coming off her fifth finger. Here we’ve released the fusion to allow the fingers to grow and function independently, as well as removed the extra digit.
