Now is a great opportunity to learn from your couch. Since COVID-19 took me out of the classroom, I've migrated all my face-to-face Sask Poly courses to video lectures. Students requested closed captioning, so I've been uploading to YouTube as I go. To help me celebrate the end of the winter semester, you can watch them, too! (They aren't perfect - and my cat likes to make impromptu appearances.)... Learn things like beginner logo design, how to write effective headlines, job search strategies, customer service, effective digital communication, Advanced Word, and more! All from the comfort of your living room. Psst... The videos likely won't be posted for long, so if you'd like to view them plan to do it soon. #personalbranding #digitalmarketing #socialmediamarketing Happy Spring! -Amy

I've noticed this search traffic trend in my site analytics. Convince and Convert took the time to study theirs and share the data. People need to be able to find you without social media. That means an engaging, search-optimized website is your number one most important property online.

A good read from the ACLU on why we should work to defend free speech even if we disagree with the message. Highlights: -free speech doesn't equal no consequences for actions nor the inability to respond -violent, armed marches intended to silence other groups are not protected under free speech... -who decides which messages need to be silenced and which are permitted to be heard? This is an important topic to understand as there is a cost to regulating fundamental rights. This is not an agreement whatsoever with dispicable hate speech. It is an explanation on why protection exists and how we should respond with reason. In Canada, we have provisions about hate speech. 7 in fact. And you can go to jail for it. However the law is a little murky and rarely put into action. Read more about that in a 2011 article from the Globe and Mail: Canadas law on hate speech is the embodiment of compromise. https://beta.theglobeandmail.com//canadas/article22520419/
