Front porch re-build We took out the old concrete porch and gave this lovely client of ours a fresh new front entrance We used @unilock Pisa smooth Irish coast for the porch rebuild, along with the steps! ... One of the most important tools on any job site It’s common sense right? WRONG ... You would be pretty surprised at how often some contractors seem to skip this step. (Shortcuts are far to common in the trades) And i guess common sense isn’t very common Being a younger contractor I’m still learning, everyday. And I plan to keep learning as much as I can. I refuse to take short cuts !!... Done once Done right I take pride in offering a 1 stop shop for all renovation needs- interior & exterior. I am Blessed to have been brought into the masonry/hardscape trade at a young age with my dad being a stone mason , moved onto framing houses for a couple years and then went and earned my hvac diploma . Worked 6 years as an hvac technician before following my dreams and opening up @1anddone.contracting Not many guys out there can say , they can pour a foundation , frame their own house , plumb their own house , hvac system , gas lines, run electrical , do all the finish work in the house ( drywall - tape & mud ) right down to the painting... Then move outside and do just about anything needed to create anybody’s dream space. Now of course there’s lots of other contractors out there with various skill sets and licensing but not many ! Interlock Re-lay project in Whitby Do you like to save money ? Is your old patio/driveway or walkway in need of some TLC ? A lot of customers ask about re-laying their old pavers vs replacing , I usually recommend starting fresh ... especially when the stone is 20+ years old . BUT we are always willing to work with customers and their budget ( almost always ) ... This job was more then just lifting and re-grading , their was rodents digging up everywhere , pavers sinking all around the house - 4-6 in some spots. So along with the usual lift/re-grade/re-lay and fresh sand . We also repaired the foundation underneath along the front wall , we also layed the last couple pavers against the house on a masonry bed , to ensure those buggers won’t get them up to make their way back under the garage . In the end the customer definitely saved some money with the Re-lay. Makes our job a little harder but we’re happy to work with customers and provide them what’s best for them at the time . Another project on the go This customer has had some moisture issues in the basement ,trouble keeping the concrete porch in 1 piece as it had been repaired before and problem continued. Just keeps crumbling away So here we are ... We tore out the concrete porch, NOT really knowing what was going on behind/under it. And of course, it’s a nightmare Foundation wall just rotting away , huge pits that needed parging ,no drainage system at all , and basically no fill except some old wood from the form and dirt . Of course the customer eventually was going to have some issues . First we broke away all lose concrete on the foundation wall , anything pitting had to go . After pardging the whole foundation wall, bringing it back to a solid foundation . We then waterproofed or damp proofed the wall, this will ensure no water seeping threw ...we all like dry basements right ?? Yes this slowed our project down a couple days , we also had to do some repairs on the footings before we can build . But at the end of the day , the job needs to be done right , a lot of contractors would have backfilled this porch , built the new one and been on their way. Our team will go the extra mile for our customers , I train my guys the same way my old man trained me ... do the job as if it was your own house That’s what separates @1anddone.contracting from a lot of company’s out there .
