#75years - Lifeteams reached 20 years of training next generation world leaders this past year! Carmen Rempel (now Kelowna's Gospel Mission Executive Director) ...attended Lifeteams:, our school for youth ministry in Abbotsford, which gives practical and experiential based training in youth work. Lifeteams was absolutely foundational for me, both as a person and in my career, says Carmen. The skills it taught me I use to this day. They’ve produced the most high quality youth workers. An inherent difficulty in working with young people is finding a way to help them access resources. We want to help youth get the resources they need with easy... accessibility. And the way we do this is by using our innovative approach of putting our drop-ins on wheels to go to where kids are. - Chris Hyslop, Abbotsford Youth Worker We have some pretty exciting news! Our youth workers in Chilliwack + Abbotsford have been rebuilding this retro fire truck to create a drop-in program on wheels. And it’s almost done! Instead of the youth coming to our drop-in, the drop-in comes to them! This is YU’s fourth mobile drop-in centre, which also includes models in East Vancouver, North Vancouver and Langley. It’s incredibly encouraging that schools deem OUR youth workers essential for the teens’ well being. We’ve been helping youth manage their anxiety through the c...hanges of this year. Youth have struggled to make new friends in their cohort and navigating the new way of doing school during #COVID19. We continue to offer them support by going for walks and helping them process what they’re feeling. We are SO grateful to serve in these schools across Greater Vancouver and support the students.
