Just received this email from the Fringe Festival about their accessibility: The Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival is coming up very soon at venues around the city. We have put together an Assisted Performance Supplement which lists all of our ASL/Deaf Interpreted performance, Relaxed, and Audio Described performances along with dates, times, location, and brief descriptions. It can be downloaded here (https://fringetoronto.com//TFF2019_Assisted_Performances_S). We do our b...est to ensure that ASL fluent front of house volunteers are present at all ASL interpreted performances to greet patrons at the door. For ASL and Deaf interpreted performances, patrons are asked to arrive at least 25 minutes and no later than fifteen minutes before the performance start time. To ensure priority seating with good sight lines we ask patrons to identify themselves to Front of House upon arrival. Front of house ushers will indicate the best seating. Our accessible offerings also include audio described performances and Relaxed performances where regular theatre conventions like a darkened theatre and staying seated are put aside in favour of a more welcoming atmosphere. Finally, patrons can join us for fun, sun and free performances at the Fringe patio, PostScript, during the Festival. On Monday, July 8th at 9 pm, there will be a performance by the fabulous POC Deaf feminist artist, Tamyka Bullen. A number of our other patio events are also ASL interpreted. For details go to pspatio.com. If you have any questions please get in touch, [email protected]. For group bookings please contact Isabela at [email protected]. For further details on events, performances, and up to date information on all things Fringe, please go to www.fringetoronto.com

Sneak peak at Bruce Horak's show opening tonight, 6-8pm at Tangled Art + Disability. "Culminating a month long residency at Tangled Art + Disability, Through A Tired Eye premieres new works from Horak, and features portraits from multiple sessions Horak hosted in the gallery space for his residency. Fascinated by conversations and connection, Horak has invited friends and strangers to have their portraits painted and their conversations recorded for an audio component of the ...exhibition. Horak notes that due to his visual impairment, eye contact, facial expression, and body language can sometimes be lost, but the power of dialog and physical presence are always present. Hey folks, help support StopGap Foundation by going to this great funraiser November 30. They build custom ramps that help people who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices get into more places. Raises awareness too.

We had a great time in Waterloo yesterday delivering a workshop on accessibility in the region's creative spaces in partnership with ArtsBuild Ontario. Twenty-five of us packed into this wee building and had two hours of fantastic animated discussion about access projects underway and planned for, the AODA and going beyond compliance toward a more accessible and inclusive environment.
