Congratulations to Dr. Sophie Toupin and supervisor Dr. Darin Barney on a successful defence! Sophie's SSHRC/CGS funded doctoral research, "Technically Subversive: Encrypted Communication in the South African National Liberation Struggle," examined the relationship between communication technologies and revolutionary movements in the context of the South African liberation struggle. Sophie begins a FQRSC post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Amsterdam (2020-2022). Image by Sophie Toupin and Ariel Acevedo. CC BY-NC-SA.
